Play. Connect. Heal

About us

Project Sunshine’s mission is to deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs through trained and dedicated volunteers. For over 20 years, Project Sunshine volunteers have brought joy and play directly to pediatric patients through our network of medical facility and nonprofit partners across the country. Over 18,000 trained volunteers deliver programs that provide opportunities for creative expression, socialization, intellectual stimulation, and sensory integration to more than 175,000 pediatric patients and families each year. Our unique volunteer engagement model allows community groups, colleges, and corporations to create moments of connection with pediatric patients, caregivers, and families providing child and family-centered, play-based programming. Project Sunshine partners with 475 medical facilities across the U.S. and in four international locations.

Is your corporate team looking for an offsite volunteer opportunity? Bring joy to pediatric patients by hosting a Here to Party in-hospital event with us! We have over 40 medical facilities across the country that have requested events for their patients for the holidays.   In addition to being fun, parties can help inspire a child to leave their room and interact with others. They can uplift moods, reduce anxiety, and lead to more successful clinical interactions. 🎈   Reach out to [email protected] for more details on how you and your company can get involved before the end of the year!

Chief Human Resources Officer at Northern Trust

Kicking off Northern Trust annual Achieving Greater Together global month of volunteering with the HR Operating Council was fun! We spent the afternoon helping Project Sunshine by packing activity kits for children undergoing long-term medical treatment at local hospitals. As a Rush University Medical Center trustee, health equity is a passion area for me, and it was a privilege to know we were bringing children a small dose of comfort and joy. With 2 paid days off each year to volunteer, let's hit our goal Northern Trust and continue to make an impact in communities worldwide! #NTGivesBack #MadeForGreater #LifeatNT

Last week, our NYC office prepared 920 care packages in partnership with Project Sunshine in support of their mission to deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs. As part of Project Sunshine’s Kits for Play program, 54 associates put together individualized kits complete with developmentally specific activities for pediatric patients in the hospital. We are honored to play a role in helping spark imagination and create a sense of connectedness for children in need or in recovery. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Our 14th Annual Golf Classic was a success! Yesterday, we raised over $600,000 thanks to our attendees to bring our programs to children with medical needs and their families across the country. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, with a special shout out to our Golf Committee and sponsors for making this event possible.   A huge thank you to the Bibliowicz family for their contribution of bespoke labeled beer from their very own 4Noses Brewery.   If you are interested in making a donation to Project Sunshine, visit the link here https://lnkd.in/e-8TnYQc.

This summer Project Sunshine Kenya volunteers went above and beyond to educate 286 children and their families through their Healthy Learning Initiative. They focused on the importance of proper hand hygiene, malaria prevention strategies, and discussed overall healthy living habits. 🧼   Thank you to our volunteers for spreading awareness and making a positive impact in the community!
