Update on K-9 Yoube, who just had to spend five more days in the hospital at Veterinary Care and Specialty Group, due to an open wound on her backside that had an abscess. This needed to be treated carefully with antibiotics and specialized bandaging before it was surgically closed up. Please give this short video a watch and share to get up to date on her amazing recovery from being paralyzed and unable to walk, just a few months ago! - #JJK9 WWW.PROJECTK9HERO.ORG

About us
OUR MISSION To serve those who protected our families, our communities, and our America. OUR VISION At Project K-9 Hero, our vision is to honor the unwavering dedication of retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs by creating a global environment that celebrates their heroic service. We strive to reshape perceptions, ensuring these valiant animals are revered and respected for their loyalty. Through our efforts, we aim to provide these remarkable companions with the dignified post-service life they rightfully deserve, offering access to comprehensive healthcare and advocating for a quality way of life in recognition of their selfless contributions. OUR PURPOSE To ensure the best quality of life for our nation’s retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs by providing assistance with medical costs, prescription food, rehabilitation, rehoming, and end-of-duty services. To educate the public, government agencies, and elected officials on the costs and responsibilities of owning a retired K-9 Hero. To provide a safe haven at our 177-acre Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility for retired K-9 Heroes to live when they no longer have a home or an owner that can meet their specialized needs.

Please welcome K-9 “Ronnie” to the Project K-9 Hero Pack, as our 308th Program Member. Ronnie honorably served at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, from 2017 to 2024, as an Explosives/Firearms Detection K-9. K-9 Ronnie is an 11-year old German Shepherd, that spent seven years serving Los Angeles County helping keep their citizens and visitors safe from dangerous criminals. Throughout his career, Ronnie participated in countless tactical operations, calls for service, and demonstrations for schools, youth programs, and fundraisers. This includes explosive detection sweeps for international dignitaries and major community events throughout the greater LA area. Ronnie was also a key resource used for locating illegal firearms, used in crimes or in the possession of felons, to help and make his community safer. Now that Ronnie is retired, his medical care is no longer covered by those he served. Thus, causing an extreme financial hardship on his still serving handler. He has severe debilitating medical condition in his spine that has been diagnosed as a herniated disk in his L-4 and L-5, from his years of service. He will remain on several medications for the rest of his life, that cost hundreds of dollars a month, to help with this issue. We understand that the cost of veterinary care is expensive, especially for an actively serving Deputy Sheriff/K-9 Handler living in his home state of California. The very last thing we at Project K-9 Hero want to see is Ronnie go without the medical assistance he needs just because his bills were not affordable. Therefore as of today, we decided to step up immediately and pay for Ronnie’s medical care at 100% for the rest of his life. Please take a moment to enjoy these great photos of K-9 Ronnie, and welcome him as our 308th Pack Member. Ronnie is also our very first from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department! - #JJK9 WWW.PROJECTK9HERO.ORG

Words can never express the gratitude I feel in my heart ❤️ from being honored as the “Hero of the Game” last night by the Clemson Tigers in front of an audience of over 80,000 people. When I saw them all stand on their feet as my name and story came over the speakers, my body swelled with immense pride. I want to thank Clemson University for selecting me for such a prestigious honor, my peers in the K-9 Community who nominated me for this recognition, my family and friends who helped me reach such levels of achievement, and the hundreds of thousands of people who support my dream of Project K-9 Hero every day! This one belongs to all of you as much as it does me! - #JJK9
