Every landlord struggles with managing tenants. While building Latch, Luke Schoenfelder tackled this challenge head-on. He realized that fixing operational inefficiencies alone wasn’t enough. The real issue was enhancing the overall tenant experience. His solution? Integrate features that tenants use daily. The result? Latch became indispensable for REITs nationwide. In his discussion with Jason Shuman, Luke shares insights on lessons from Steve Jobs, how a $300k investment led to Latch’s $1.5B IPO, and more. Don’t miss out. If you're building hardware, where it takes 2-3 years to get from concept to market, you’re faced with two choices: a) act with urgency b) risk falling behind Luke Schoenfelder understands this better than most. He knows that if you wait too long, your product’s relevance evaporates before it even hits the shelves. You’ve got to anticipate where the market’s headed, not just where it is today. Good companies meet the market where it is; great ones are there waiting when it arrives. Luke’s no-BS approach ensured that Latch was never caught playing catch-up. Tune into the conversation featuring Luke on ChangeOrder. Link in the comments below.

👀👀 NYC women in SaaS, I'm looking at you! 👀👀 I've said it before and I'll say it again: many executives will never even celebrate a two-year anniversary in their roles. More often than not, the "why" behind that reality comes down to either 1) a failure to embrace a "First Team" leadership mentality or 2) lack of P&L fluency/command - an ability to tie the their work back to the company's top/bottom lines. One year ago we launched Primary Venture Partners' "On the Business" mastery series for senior women in SaaS to help them level up their thinking in both areas. Today the median $50MM+ ARR company has just 30% of their "leadership" positions filled by women (and that is a BS statistic because it includes the director ranks - would be much lower if only VP+). But it's not just about getting more women into those seats, it's about getting them to EXCEL in their leadership roles once they're there. We're proud of the programs we've developed to help, are beyond pumped for our final installment of 2024, a truly cross-functional program that deep dives into the metrics that matter for each functional area and more specifically, how those ladder up into a cohesive annual operating and financial plan. Here's what to expect from us on Monday 11/4... 💁♀️ Yours Truly will offer a deep look at what SaaS leaders need to know coming into 2025, both in the market and specific to their board plans 💰 Michaela Lehr, CFO at ActionIQ and an On the Business fan-favorite, will lead a session on how to partner with your finance time to build a cohesive annual financial plan 💲Emmanuelle Skala, former SVP Customer Success and GM at Toast, will offer a perspective on how to embrace a GM mindset in the customer success function 🖱 Kristen Habacht, CRO at Typeform, will bring some product-led growth ("PLG") expertise to the house with a session that dives deep on how operating plans differ for PLG companies versus traditional sales-led businesses ⭐ Rebecca Price, my partner at Primary Venture Partners and former CPO of Capsule, Enigma and Sailthru, will school us all into how to effectively work your PEOPLE strategy and needs into your operating plan ⌨ Neetu R.., CEO at Lilac Software and former CTO at Oscar Health and Conductor, will lead a session on how Product and Engineering leaders can better align their work to the P&L and business outcomes 🥇 Lisa Lewin, my partner at Primary and former CEO of General Assembly, will lead an inspiring fireside chat with Emmanuelle and Kristen on growing and expanding your influence in the C-Suite and accelerating your path to CEO and board roles This event is limited to VP-level and C-Suite women in SaaS who can join us live in NYC, and is free to attend if your application is approved. If you fit that bill, apply here to join us: https://lnkd.in/eJUApPVH DEADLINE IS TOMORROW (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12). https://lnkd.in/eJUApPVH

What started as an idea on his kitchen table in 2013 went public with a $1.5B IPO in 2021. Luke Schoenfelder, who began his career on Apple’s retail floors, never imagined that, less than a decade later, he’d be partnering with Apple again—this time as the CEO of Latch. Today, he is the Chairman of Altamira, investing in companies he believes truly matter. In this chat with Primary General Partner Jason Shuman, they discuss: • why one small decision can build a great product • staying ahead of trends in hardware design, and • how Latch became a must-have for every landlord Tune in to the full conversation with the link in the comments below.
