Mental Health America just released a report called The State of Mental Health in America. Not surprisingly, the findings are bleak. The bottom line: Mental health concerns are increasingly fast among Americans, both adult and child, and the amount of suicidal ideation our youngest and most vulnerable are experiencing is downright terrifying. (13% of youth reported experiencing serious thoughts of suicide!) Further, several years ago findings suggested that 1 in 10 (10%) Americans were grappling with Substance Use Disorder; these most recent findings show that 18% are now struggling with addiction -- and these figures are often underreported due to persistent (unfair) social stigma. The real figure is likely much higher. And yet, so few are able to access good, quality treatment that meets their needs at a price point they can actually afford. Insurance coverage is still extremely limited. Parents may be putting a second or third mortgage on their home to send their beloved son or daughter to a treatment center for a disease that isn't that individual's fault (despite what our culture might suggest!). We need to make sure that every episode of treatment truly counts and that post-discharge there is continued support and the ability to provide true data-driven early intervention so that fifth, sixth, and seventh treatments are a thing of the past. We need innovation and we need it now. Thankfully, Pretaa is here to help. Pretaa ensures that those who leave treatment are able to maintain their gains through passive oversight that relies on biometrics in addition to self-report. We also encourage those in recovery to create a community of supporters who are there to ensure a slip doesn't need to ever become a fall. And we are innovating every single day to do our part to stem the tide of this tragic epidemic that is claiming the lives of our children, our parents, our neighbors, our coworkers, and our friends daily.

It seems like there’s a new app, prescription, or solution for every problem in our world every day. Why are most substance use recovery programs still using the same treatment tools that have existed for decades? At Country Road, we’re not. We’re moving forward. We use Pretaa, an innovative data collecting system that provides biometrics, wellness information, and cooperative communication between caregivers and clients to enhance every part of every individual’s recovery journey. Not all addiction treatment programs are built the same. Learn more about the Country Road difference: https://lnkd.in/gpKy4Dii

Some thoughts from our Chief Growth Officer on how biometrics can — and will — totally transform the field of behavioral healthcare. We are thrilled to be here at the infancy of this revolution and to be partnering with amazing clients like Pathways Recovery Centers, Surfside Recovery Services, The Guest House Ocala, Precision Recovery, and Malibu Detox & Residential Treatment Center (Aliya Health Group), and Atlas Healthcare Group. These are some of the most forward-thinking organizations in the industry who are constantly striving to move the needle to improve outcomes and increase long-term recovery rates. You all are helping to make us better and shape the future of our product so it best fits your needs and those of the individuals we all are blessed to serve. Thank you. We are so excited to be doing this work and hearing about the amazing results coming in that speak to how life-changing this type of intervention can be.

Revolutionizing behavioral healthcare with innovative software, biometrics, and reporting that enables data-driven care and true prevention.

I get asked all the time -- and even gave a webinar presentation today -- on how biometrics can practically assist with behavioral healthcare. My most basic answer is usually some variant as follows: Biometrics from off-the-shelf wearables that Pretaa utilizes (i.e. Fitbit (now part of Google) and Apple watches) include heart rate variability (HRV), skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and activity tracking. Altogether, when interpreted by a clinician or by treatment staff and used as part of the episode of care, this data can completely revolutionize our approach to Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health treatment. By continuously monitoring these physiological metrics, clinicians gain insights into the physiological responses of patients undergoing treatment. Fluctuations in heart rate, HRV, and blood oxygen can indicate stress levels and potential relapse triggers. Changes in skin temperature may reveal emotional states or withdrawal symptoms. Sleep patterns and activity levels provide valuable indicators of overall well-being and adherence to treatment plans. Utilizing biometrics allows for personalized interventions, improving treatment outcomes and supporting long-term recovery for individuals battling SUD. Of course, post-discharge, this also highlights individuals who are at-risk for relapse or who are struggling and also allows outreach at the right time in real time. How all facilities aren't scrambling to integrate this into their care is beyond me, but I am confident they soon will be. Many don't know this is an option until it is presented to them. And that is the most exciting part of my job -- seeing their reactions when they start to envision just how much this can elevate the care they provide.

A few weeks ago we got a call from a facility utilizing Pretaa telling us the following story about one of their clients. A Veteran came in seeking treatment for Substance Use Disorder and, while they were aware he had a trauma history, the extent of this was not fully known and PTSD symptoms were drastically underreported (likely under-recognized) by the client. They had just implemented Pretaa and put a Fitbit with our software onto the client's wrist. Within just over a day, our software established a baseline for this man and began to look for areas of concern -- what we call "Anomaly Reports", which show early signs of physiological dysregulation. The second night the client was wearing his Fitbit, staff members received an Anomaly Report showing that this individual was having major heart rate spikes (without the presence of exercise) at bedtime and before falling asleep. He also had disrupted sleep patterns. His clinician quickly realized that this could be symptomatic of PTSD and met with the client and it was established that, despite not having divulged this fact, the Veteran was having nightmares and was having difficulty falling asleep due to fear. These nightmares were severe enough that they were causing nighttime awakenings. Because of Pretaa, this gentleman was given a full sleep study, medication to combat this problem in the short term, and ramped up treatment for trauma. This facility brought Pretaa on because they prioritize providing truly data-driven, patient-centric, individualized care. This is 100% what ⭐ SUCCESS ⭐ looks like for us -- and for our clients. Curious what Pretaa can do for you? Book a demo with Eliza to learn more.

Marketing, Communications & Development at Surfside Recovery Services

It's been about a month since we took a leap and integrated Pretaa into Surfside Recovery Services. I met with Eliza Foltz and as soon as she showed us the biometric data collected through wearable fitness devices (like Fitbit), I knew this was something that could help us collect REAL, tangible data. Here's a great example of what Pretaa does for our clients. We KNOW that poor sleep can be a major indicator of a potential relapse (or just an indicator of bad habits, like doomscrolling on the phone until 2am). Our team got this alert about a sleep anomaly this morning and they're already setting time to chat with someone about what transpired that led to 4 hours of sleep last night. Do they need staff support getting off their phone at night? Is this anxiety keeping them up? Nightmares? Does their roommate snore? We can look at this data and take action BEFORE the foundation starts to crumble. This is such an awesome tool for our team.
