Our Premier team is sending compassion and support to all those affected by Hurricane Milton. Immediately after the storm, Premier worked to confirm the safety of our Florida-based employees, and we are grateful to share that all are safe. Premier continues to monitor the impacts of the recent hurricanes – assessing member and supplier needs to offer support through emergency response and recovery resources and to help ensure access to necessary supplies, including IV fluids. As the healthcare industry continues to address IV fluids challenges, it’s crucial for healthcare organizations to maintain rigorous, value-driven conservation efforts. Additionally, Premier continues to help develop strategies for maximizing IV fluids availability and production capacity to mitigate care disruption. During hurricane season and beyond, Premier remains committed to preparing for and responding to disasters that impact our healthcare system – and developing key strategies that enable product access and long-term resiliency. More information, including IV fluid conservation resources, strategies for addressing product shortages and more – is available for members in the Disaster Response Premier community (login required): https://lnkd.in/eY84dsfA  The 2024 Premier Supply Chain Resiliency Report also shares actionable insights to strengthen the healthcare supply chain, including disaster preparedness and response recommendations - click here to access: https://lnkd.in/en8wMsd3 For any emergency or pressing needs, please reach out directly to [email protected]

More than 86 percent of healthcare providers are experiencing shortages of IV fluids in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, according to new Premier survey data. The data also shows that providers are starting to cancel procedures and are concerned about shortage spill over into other product categories, as the situation could worsen in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. Premier continues to prioritize hurricane preparedness and response actions, including ongoing management of IV fluids supply. Together with our members, manufacturers, government officials and other supply chain stakeholders, Premier teams are working around the clock to help mitigate any potential effects to healthcare operations and the delivery of patient care. Armed with this survey data, Premier also continues to advocate for action by the federal government to ensure healthcare providers have a sufficient supply of IV fluids to care for patients. Premier continues to prioritize the management of IV fluids supply given the destruction and disruptions manufacturing facilities are experiencing as result of Hurricane Helene – and potentially Hurricane Milton.     Together with our members, suppliers, government officials and other supply chain stakeholders, Premier teams are working diligently to help mitigate any potential effects to healthcare operations and the delivery of patient care.    Conservation of existing IV fluids products in the supply chain remains the primary means of disruption mitigation at this time.     Premier is working to explore alternative options to help strengthen the market, including:  • Working with current suppliers to determine inventory levels and strategies to maximize production capacity.   • Collaborating with government agencies to expedite approvals and import options for overseas suppliers.    • Identifying regional compounding facilities and new manufacturers to assess timelines and accelerate IV solutions production.       Premier will continue to work directly with our members and other stakeholders on this dynamic situation. For any emergency needs, Premier members can reach out to region leaders or email [email protected].

Our hearts are with all those who have suffered loss as a result of Hurricane Helene, including many of our employees and Premier members as well as communities across the Southeastern U.S.  At Premier, our first priority in difficult times is to mobilize for action and on-the-ground work to make a positive impact. Over the past week, many Premier team members have been working around the clock with employees, suppliers, health system leaders and others to ensure the safety of our colleagues in impacted areas, identify emergency needs, support individuals who are displaced and deliver solutions to ensure continuity of healthcare operations.  As a North Carolina-based company, Premier is also committed to supporting longer-term relief and recovery efforts through significant contributions to affected communities, comprised of both employees and members who have experienced loss and devastation.  Together, we can continue to make a difference and support our employees, members and communities in recovery.
