Here’s why we fight to keep our #machineshop clean. ⬇️ Dust, shavings, and debris can interfere with the machining process, leading to parts with poor finishes, inaccurate dimensions, or can result in defects and potentially costly rework or scrap. 🗑️ Metal shavings, oils, and other materials commonly found in machine shops are often flammable. If they aren’t cleaned up regularly, they can accumulate and increase the risk of fire, especially near heat sources or if sparks are generated during machining. 🔥 A cluttered or dirty environment creates trip hazards and increases the chance of injury from slips, falls, or exposure to sharp objects. 👷🏼♂️ A disorganized, unclean shop can slow down operations, as workers might spend more time locating tools or cleaning parts mid-process. Mazak Variaxis i-800 just machined a blade shaped like a potato chip. 🗜️ Naturally, John grabbed a Pringles for comparison. Incredible part for a water #turbine generator. ⚙️ Nitronic 60 steel is known for its great resistance to galling, which is a form of wear caused by adhesion between sliding surfaces. Ideal material for components like valve stems, fasteners, and etc for #aerospace and #powergeneration industries. _ However it does present significant difficulties to machine because this #metal becomes harder as cutting progresses! Takes a very careful selection of cutting tools, slower cutting speeds, and even the use of specialized coolant systems to prevent overheating, and maintain efficiency. _ But if you can #cncmachine it successfully, the pay off is huge. Strength at elevated temperatures, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and a lot more!
