From the pages of our favorite book to the walls of our homes, forest products touch nearly every aspect of our lives. But they can do more than meet our everyday needs. Because we use modern, sustainable forest management practices, our forests provide additional environmental benefits: clean air, clean water, abundant wildlife habitat, and greater resilience to climate change. At PotlatchDeltic, our management practices ensure forests provide what’s needed today while remaining a valuable natural resource for future generations. That’s why we’re celebrating #ForestProductsWeek! #ModernForestry #ClimateSmartForestry #ForestProductsWeek #LifeGrowsFromHere

Approximately 80% of eastern forests in the U.S. are privately owned, and these forests are critical habitat for migratory birds. A research project is studying the role private working forests play in supporting the conservation of bird species — particularly at-risk species — across the east coast. Researchers are mapping the distribution and movement of migratory songbirds across a large geographic area through seasons of breeding, migration, and overwintering. This project was made possible by the Wildlife Conservation Initiative (WCI). The WCI makes more than 44 million acres of forestland available for collaborative species initiatives, with government and private working forests working together. The Forest-Climate Working Group is united by four core beliefs: 1.Climate change is real, and forests must be part of the nation’s response. 2. Keeping forests as forests is the foundation to all forest-climate solutions. 3. Forests can do even more to slow climate change if we provide the right science and financial incentives 4. Protecting forests from climate change is equally as important as trapping more carbon in forests. https://lnkd.in/dkG7FnGj #Forests4Climate
