Last night we gathered at the Detroit Yacht Club to celebrate Fr. Tim McCabe, SJ as he received one of the 2024 Kern Medallion Awards! 🏆 This award and celebration is dedicated to the legacy of Fr. Kern who helped those "who fell through the cracks" of society. Congratulations to Fr. Tim and the other incredible recipients! Thank you, too, to the 40th annual Father Kern Medallion Award Dinner for having us and for recognizing all those who lift up our community!

It's our pleasure to introduce our Curriculum and Data Manager at the Bridge Housing Campus, Diane Brown, IHM! Sr. Diane brings a wealth of knowledge and creative ideas and plays a key role in transitioning our residents, leading life skill classes and supporting their overall BHC experience. "I'm amazed and inspired by the resiliency of our guests who have come through so much and are still willing to work so hard." Welcome to the team, Sr. Diane, and thank you for walking with our residents on their journey! ___ Meet Sr. Diane: I have been in public and private educational settings since 1980, first as a classroom teacher, then as a college professor. As a widow and a mother, I broke with tradition and became an IHM Sister, taking final vows in 2019, so of a "late bloomer." I am a devoted mother of my grown son and a passionate advocate for those for LGBTQAI+ folks, for those for whom the education system in the United States has not been effective, and for those who are not neurotypical. In my free time I enjoy cooking for the Sisters with whom I live, gardening and playing board games.

Today we met a guest who needed to change her address and renew her license. Thankfully, the Michigan Department of State's mobile clinic was at the Center and was able to support her immediately. The SOS Mobile Office gives our guests closer access to critical services, which then goes a long way in helping them access jobs, housing, benefits, food assistance and many other resources. Thank you to the SOS for bringing this impactful opportunity to our neighbors in need and experiencing homelessness!

Yesterday we welcomed over 75 Detroit expats from Detroit Homecoming to visit our new Bridge Housing Campus to learn about our revolutionary approach to ending chronic #homelessness. It was wonderful to connect with so many brilliant and talented Detroiters who have returned to celebrate the incredible things happening here. Thank you to Crain's Detroit Business for including us in this tour, and for the excitement and energy these expats exude for our city!
