Relapsing polychondritis (RP) and VEXAS syndrome are both adult-onset inflammatory autoimmune conditions. That's why we're collaborating with the clinical researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and NYU Grossman School of Medicine who discovered VEXAS to continue the search for additional genetic mutations in patients with RP-related autoimmune diseases and bring science closer to the discovery of a biomarker for RP. Our Autoimmunity Institute has just launched a nationwide, first-of-its-kind study call "Patients’ Universal Relapsing Polychondritis Open Specimen Endeavor," or PURPOSE. The unprecedented effort is in partnership with the Relapsing Polychondritis Foundation and will create a biospecimen repository, including clinical data and blood samples, from patients across the country.
