My visit to Massachusetts this past week further fueled my passion for the work we do at Points of Light. At The Nantucket Project, I had the opportunity to moderate a panel with City Year Service Members, where we explored how service is helping to tackle today’s challenges. Hearing directly from these young leaders reinforced the real, lasting impact volunteerism has—both for individuals and for strengthening communities, as they shared how service helped them work across differences and find purpose. Bringing these fresh perspectives into our strategic discussions at Points of Light is key as we continue shaping the future of civic engagement and advancing our mission.

We recently sat down with Ashley Brown, who we are thrilled to honor at the 6th annual George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards on October 23 in Washington, D.C. In 2015, Ashley co-founded the Selfless Love Foundation - a nonprofit transforming the child welfare system by helping foster children find their forever families and thrive into adulthood. As an adoptee herself, Ashley believes that family is a gift every child deserves, and she works tirelessly to improve the lives of current and former foster youth. We’re proud to celebrate Ashley's incredible contributions!
