EDIT! Good news - we're back up and running smoothly! Earlier today, an update in Plot went a bit haywire, which caused our system to create duplicate content ideas in your content calendar. This resulted in a large increase in data, which disrupted our system's performance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate everyone's patience. We've also added performance improvements to handle increased data in the system and put safeguards in place to prevent this from happening again. (Note: you may still see some duplicated data, but it should be removed within the next 24 hours.) If you're still experiencing any other issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] 🚨S̶e̶r̶v̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶D̶i̶s̶r̶u̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶🚨 ̶H̶e̶y̶ ̶P̶l̶o̶t̶t̶i̶e̶s̶!̶ ̶W̶e̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶e̶x̶p̶e̶r̶i̶e̶n̶c̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶y̶s̶t̶e̶m̶ ̶i̶s̶s̶u̶e̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶c̶a̶u̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶u̶m̶p̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶a̶p̶p̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶e̶b̶s̶i̶t̶e̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶f̶o̶r̶m̶a̶n̶c̶e̶.̶ ̶O̶u̶r̶ ̶e̶n̶g̶i̶n̶e̶e̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶f̶i̶x̶.̶ ̶ ̶W̶e̶ ̶k̶n̶o̶w̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶t̶y̶p̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶i̶s̶s̶u̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶f̶r̶u̶s̶t̶r̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶e̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶u̶p̶e̶r̶ ̶g̶r̶a̶t̶e̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶p̶a̶t̶i̶e̶n̶c̶e̶.̶ ̶W̶e̶'̶l̶l̶ ̶p̶o̶p̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶h̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶u̶p̶d̶a̶t̶e̶.̶

Light blue elements? Check. Meaningless words? Check. Invites to webinars no one attends? Check. Yep, that's right, we're talking B2B SaaS brands. Most B2B companies now look and sound the way I described. They're generic, meaningless, boring. But as a startup, you need to stand out. You can't look and sound like the incumbents you want to disrupt and expect to beat them. That's why we studied 3 B2B startups that have built incredible brands - and spoken to team members at 2. Here's what we found: 1. Motion (Creative Analytics) uses "edutainment. They're funny and engaging, but keep everything focused on their topic of expertise - marketing creative. As Travis Tyler told me: "People will stop for the laughs and pay for the lessons." 2. Plot makes their brand feel human by being irreverent and featuring the founders and employees in their content. Their content doesn't feel like typical B2B marketing. As Christina Le told me: "At the end of the day, it's all about knowing your audience. For us, that's social media marketers. We don't get hung up on the whole B2B/D2C thing because there are real people behind those businesses we're trying to sell to. We fully understand social media behavior, so we meet our audience where they are." 3. RB2B/Retention.com You've seen Adam Robinson around. He's built his brand (and, by extension, his companies') around controversy and being extremely opinionated. This strategy isn't for everyone, but it gets attention and polarizes people. And it'll polarize some people towards you - creating more customers for your product. Want to read the full breakdown of these 3 non-boring B2B SaaS brands, see examples of all the strategies and the full interviews with Travis and Christina? You know where to find the link.
