That’s right! PPLM now offers patients the option of sedation during an IUD insertion. This decision to expand pain management options to include sedation was guided by our patients. By offering this option, we aim to alleviate some of the anxiety folks might feel about choosing an IUD and empower patients with a more positive experience in taking care of their sexual health. Care. No Matter What.
About us
Our Mission The mission of PPLM is to protect and promote sexual and reproductive health and freedom of choice by providing clinical services, education and advocacy. Our vision is that sexual health is essential to every person's well-being. Our Vision for the Future At Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, we envision a future where sexual health is a personal and public health priority. We are working to normalize sexual health through our education programs and a public awareness campaign designed to get people talking about what sexual health is, what it means to be sexually healthy, and the changes we need to improve sexual health in our culture. We strive to create an environment and culture in which it is normal for parents to talk with their kids about healthy behaviors around sex and sexuality; to encourage young people to seek regular preventive care to reduce disease and unintended pregnancy, and create an environment in which people regard sexual health as important to them, and to society at large. We envision a future where there is universal understanding and support for the right of each person to responsibly manage his/her sexual and reproductive health. Women's freedom, equality and health will be enhanced by access to a full range of family planning options. When the right to family planning is accepted as fundamental and mainstream, there is the potential for each woman to fulfill her own dreams. We envision a future where laws will guarantee these rights and ensure access to quality health care, education and advocacy services. These services will be readily available in safe settings that preserve and protect the privacy and rights of each individual regardless of income, age, marital status, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Reproductive freedom finds itself at an alarming crossroads on the national stage. While we here in the Commonwealth are lucky to have elected officials who took swift action to protect reproductive care following the death of Roe v. Wade, we still can’t consider ourselves safe from what could come in the future. Castle’s partnership with Dominique L. and the team at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is extremely important work; and we’re proud to help them on their mission to restore, protect and expand care. Read State House News Service’s Q&A with Dominique Lee to learn more about how PPLM is preparing for the upcoming election and how they plan to push their mission forward no matter who wins on November 5th. https://lnkd.in/e3a2QQNM

We are pleased to cohost and kick-off Boston University School of Public Health's A Vote For Health speaking series today. As Dominique L. said today, no politician is ever more qualified than a patient and their health care provider to determine what is best for their health, their body, or their life. As leaders in public health, we must remember that reproductive health IS public health and cannot accept a reality where your zip code determines your access to life-saving and life-affirming health care. Get involved to advance reproductive health equity with us at pplm.org/focuslocal Register for the rest of the speaking series here: https://lnkd.in/ey39MU84

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) was featured on NBC Boston Stations (NBC10) @Issue over Labor Day weekend! MaryRose Mazzola, Esq., PPLM’s Chief External Affairs Officer, applauded passage of the maternal health bill alongside maternal health champion and co-sponsor of the bill, Senator Liz Miranda. This legislation, signed by Governor Maura Healey last week, expands access to a number of critical health services for all birthing individuals, including access to birthing centers, doulas, midwifery care, and postpartum mental health care. MaryRose and Sen. Miranda discuss with NBC10 anchor Cory Smith how this law addresses disparities that have long existed within maternal health care, especially among underserved populations and communities of color in Massachusetts. Addressing pain management for IUD insertions and other procedures is long overdue - that's why PPLM added sedation options for IUD insertions & removals, LEEPs, and colposcopies in March. Fear and anxiety shouldn't prevent anyone from getting the health care they want or need. Read more at The Associated Press: https://lnkd.in/gfsHqHDZ
