    We recently dove into the unique strengths and strategies of three retail giants to understand how they’re thriving despite a competitive market and shifting consumer habits. Here’s what we found: 👇🏻 → Dwell Times: Walmart and Target experienced reduced dwell times, reflecting a shift from mission-driven shopping. Meanwhile, Costco’s dwell times remained steady. → Dollar Store Competition: The share of Walmart, Target, and Costco shoppers also visiting Dollar Tree rose from 9.8%-13.7% in Q2 2019 to 16.7%-21.6% in Q2 2024. → Loyalty and Affluence: Target's loyalty rates are higher in affluent areas, with up to 48% of visitors in high-income markets visiting at least twice a month. → Younger Shoppers at Costco: Costco saw visit-per-location growth in H1 2024 in CBSAs with captured markets featuring higher-than-average shares of Young Urban Singles.
