COMMUNITY RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT: Safe Water Together for Brunswick & Glynn County The Safe Water Together for Brunswick initiative, operating in the City of Brunswick, GA and Glynn County Board of Commissioners is dedicated to addressing environmental health and justice for all community residents and to co-develop solutions based on community experiences and scientific data. The objective is to implement a community-led local water quality monitoring program to identify impacts of Sea-Level Rise (SLR) near Superfund sites and advance community awareness of environmental water issues in Brunswick. The project fosters stewardship and enhances understanding of environmental impacts through community engagement, to inform policy decisions. The project utilizes advanced water quality detection technology to target microbial and chemical contamination exacerbated by sea-level rise. Aligned with the cleantech theme, the project minimizes emissions, optimizes data transfer, and integrates eco-conscious technology. Ultimately, this endeavor will improve water quality, address environmental disparities, and contribute to long-term solutions for a more sustainable and just community. Updates: 1.    Researchers have assembled a group of citizen scientists to measure water chemicals and assess community needs. 2.    The project has attracted attention from other universities and local governments seeking guidance on community-based water quality improvements.
