November is National Family Caregivers Month, honoring the unspoken heroes who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones. 💙 Your selflessness and compassion make a significant difference in their lives, but it's essential to remember to care for yourself too. Here’s a checklist to help you prioritize your well-being while providing care: Self-Care Checklist for Caregivers: Take Breaks: Schedule regular breaks to recharge and refresh. Stay Active: Engage in physical activity, even if it’s just a short walk. Connect with Others: Reach out to friends, family, or support groups to share your experiences. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no and prioritize your own needs. Practice Mindfulness: Take time to meditate, journal, or engage in activities that promote relaxation. Seek Help: Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance from family, friends, or professional services when needed. Remember, taking care of yourself allows you to be the best caregiver possible. Thank you for your incredible dedication! 🌟 #FamilyCaregiversMonth #UnspokenHeroes #SelfCare #CaregiverSupport #CompassionInAction #YouMatter #CareSynergyNetwork

The Pikes Peak Region's community leader in end-of-life care for more than 40 years.
About us
Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has provided hospice care and palliative services for 40 years. PPHPC began offering services in 1980, and is the only community-based, nonprofit hospice provider in El Paso and Teller counties in Colorado. Patients can receive our services wherever they call home – a private residence, assisted living community or skilled nursing facility. When medical needs become more complex, we are the only area hospice provider with our own licensed inpatient care unit to manage more serious care needs in a comfortable setting. The focus of our philosophy of care is to provide quality symptom control and practical support to holistically address patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Comprehensive grief support for surviving families of loved ones continues for thirteen months following the death of our patients. In addition, PPHPC is committed to sharing its expertise about end-of-life issues through education and collaborations throughout the community.

As we adjust our clocks this weekend, here are 5 steps to support loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia during Daylight Saving Time: ⏰💜 Maintain a Routine: Help them adjust to the new time by keeping a consistent daily routine. Regular meal and activity times can provide stability and comfort. Use Visual Aids: Place clocks and calendars in visible areas to remind them of the time change. Visual cues can help reinforce the new schedule. Communicate Clearly: Explain the time change in simple terms. Use clear language and repeat information as needed to ensure understanding. Engage in Activities: Plan enjoyable activities that can distract from the time change, like going for a walk, playing games, or engaging in a favorite hobby. Be Patient and Supportive: Changes in routine can be confusing. Offer reassurance and understanding as they navigate the adjustment to the new time. Together, we can create a supportive environment for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. 💜 #DaylightSavingTime #AlzheimersAwareness #DementiaSupport #CaregiverTips #SupportAndCompassion #MemoryMatters #CareSynergyNetwork

🌟 Honoring Robert and His Legacy of Service 🌟 We recently had the privilege of conducting a Veteran Recognition Ceremony for Robert, surrounded by his friends, including one from the American Legion. Although Robert was unable to speak, his gratitude was clear as he mouthed "thank you" and held my hand during the ceremony. Each item, including the flag, red, white, and blue blanket, and Pikes Peak Hospice Challenge coin, was shared with him in a heartfelt moment. His caregiver shared that her mother had been by his side for seven years, highlighting the deep connections that have shaped his journey. Thank you, Robert, for your service and the strength you continue to show. 🇺🇸 #VeteranRecognition #ThankYouForYourService #WeHonorVeterans #LegacyOfService #AmericanLegion #PikesPeakHospice
