In case you missed it... 👀 We recognize that there is still a missing component between our internship and our alumnis getting that first job, so we created a Speaker Series to provide tips and tricks through each step of their job search process. Olelo Community Media thought these rich conversations shouldn't only be for our alumnis, but for our greater community of local technologists who are trying to get into tech. Check out our core team members Carlo Liquido and Hana Nakano as they discuss the importance of networking, Piʻikū's vision for the future, and how we're building tech the "Hawai'i way". 🌱 Check out the podacast here! 👇 https://lnkd.in/gJJRiuqn

The Power of Technology in Reconnecting Diaspora Hawaiians with Culture and Community If there’s one thing the pandemic showed us, it’s how technology can serve as a lifeline for connection—especially for those of us in the Hawaiian diaspora. When the world shifted to virtual spaces, Native Hawaiians, particularly those living away from the islands, found new ways to engage with and stay connected to Hawaiian cultural values and practices that ground us. Technology became more than just a convenience—it allowed us to strengthen our diaspora community and access to culture. Through virtual gatherings and cultural workshops like hula classes and Hawaiian language lessons, we could learn, maintain and even strengthen our ties to our heritage. For many, these digital spaces became sacred, helping us share, learn, and engage with our Hawaiian culture in meaningful and deeply rooted ways from the diaspora. At Hawaiian Diaspora, we're reflecting on how technology can open doors to community connection. It allows us to bridge the gap between our physical distance and our collective identity—making cultural resources more accessible than ever. How has technology helped you stay connected to your roots and community? We’d love to hear your stories and experiences. #HawaiianDiaspora #TechnologyAndCulture #CommunityBuilding #CulturalConnection
