In a unique twist on standard design, Turkish company Ankara Solar Enerji AŞ has developed sun-catching cells that can be incorporated into outdoor (or even indoor) floors and walkways. It's a different take on panels that are typically deployed off the ground and on rooftops. The black tiles are built to be durable enough to withstand substantial foot traffic, utilizing highly efficient solar cells to convert sunlight into electricity. They are made to be aesthetically pleasing while maximizing the use of space, according to Ankara's website. The company lists shopping centers, homes, and parks as some possible locations for the tech. Importantly, the floors can integrate with smart technology to provide up-to-date analytics on performance so the power can be monitored. Help us pass community solar! House Bill 1842 passed the House earlier this session and would activate community solar in Pennsylvania. Community solar is currently legal in 44 other states and allows residents to enjoy the benefits of clean and affordable solar energy -- even if they're renting or can't install solar themselves, which can happen for a myriad of reasons. However, while HB 1842 passed the House successfully, it is now stuck in the state Senate. We need your help to get this bill moving again -- and to become law. Please reach to your own state senator today! We made the process as painless as possible: all you have to do is fill out this form; review the pre-drafted message (and customize if you'd like); and then hit send! This website will make sure it goes to the right place. (Even if you have no idea who your state senator is! :) #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar https://lnkd.in/dxHHjRnn?

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has proposed a plan to use the empty space next to turnpike roads to construct solar generation facilities. The agency is advertising for proposals from developers to install solar fields at 15 sites where the agency has excess land, all but one of the sites in Western Pennsylvania. The plan is for the turnpike to buy all the electricity from the sites for 20 years, then either replace the equipment to continue producing electricity or restore the land to its previous state. Our fearless leader is on The Heinz Endowments podcast! Check it out.
Clean energy advocate & Pennsylvania Solar Center Founder/Ex. Dir. Sharon Pillar shares the massive workforce & financial savings potential of solar power with “We Can Be” host Chris DeCardy. From training with former Vice President Al Gore’s The Climate Reality Project to advancing solar projects in communities that were former fossil fuel & industry strongholds, Sharon has clearly found her calling: to – as PA Solar Center’s website says – “help put solar everywhere under the sun.”
