🎓 LER ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🎓 Gregory Arcuri, MPS HRER is a #PennStateLER alumnus who earned a MPS in Human Resources and Employment Relations. He currently works as a Global HR Business Partner at GE Vernova. Gregory’s advice to students is to “Network Network and NETWORK. Most of my class I have become very good friends with and regardless of what function we went into in HR we remain close. Remember that HR has many different facets and some folks may be better at some than others, but to celebrate those differences. You may not love comp, or law, or psychology, but I can tell you without those I would not be the HRBP I am today.” #WeAre are proud of your accomplishments Gregory! For more than 80 years, we've been making workplaces better through teaching, research, outreach, and service.
About us
For more than 80 years, the mission of the School of Labor and Employment Relations is to make organizations, workplaces, and communities better by promoting excellence in teaching, research and outreach in the fields of human resource management, labor and employment relations and organizational leadership. The School is committed to achieving this mission by enhancing our understanding of these topics from a strategic perspective both domestically and globally. We are also committed to a multi-stakeholder perspective that includes workers, employees, employers, unions and government. The School of LER is an academic unit within the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State University Park. From its beginnings as an extension program with a small, part-time staff of adult education specialists, the program has grown to an internationally recognized academic department. The department has more than 3,500 alumni working in a range of capacities for national and multinational corporations, small businesses, labor unions, government agencies, and non-profits. People are the greatest asset to any organization — whether it’s a small business or a multinational corporation, or anything in between. Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) studies the myriad aspects of the employer/employee relationship, including human resources, labor management, and employee relations. These are complex issues with many stakeholders. We are committed to understanding national and global issues and engaging multiple points of view from employers, employees, unions, and government.

Thank you to all the amazing participants from Penn State, Purdue, Georgetown, Minnesota, and Michigan State. The Twist was that participants had to work on teams of people from other universities, a scenario all too familiar in the real world. Their collaborative and adaptive skills were on full display. 📰 FACULTY IN THE NEWS 📰 Paul Clark, professor of labor and employment relations at Penn State University told Penn State News that "unions and union members will play a critical role in the 2024 election." In the previous two presidential elections, Trump was able to draw in working-class votes, including union members. "While almost 60% of union members and their families voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in 2012, that number fell to 51% in 2016, enough to secure Trump’s election," Clark said. https://lnkd.in/euHtFetY

Professor of International Human Resource Management, Director of the School of Labor and Employment Relations, at Penn State
Thank you to the Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät - Universität Luzern for this great honor! I will be very proud to represent Penn State School of Labor and Employment Relations next week. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on future #international #HRM research and hope to see you there!
ℹ 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲 On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Prof. Dr. Elaine Farndale will speak on the topic “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁”. The keynote lecture sheds light on how various factors influence human resource management (HRM). The “institutional multiplicity” approach emphasizes that HRM practices need to be embedded in different contexts - at strategic, organizational, national, international and temporal levels. Elaine Farndale is Professor of Human Resource Management and Director of the School of Labor and Employment Relations at Pennsylvania State University (PSU), where she chairs the Center for International Human Resource Studies. She will be awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the Dies Academicus on November 7, 2024. ➡ Register here for the public lecture: www.unilu.ch/wf-farndale #uniluzern #wirtschaftswissenschaften #diesacademicus #ehrendoktoratwürde | Center for Human Resource Management (CEHRM) - University of Lucerne
