About us
The Peer Recovery Center of Excellence (PR CoE) has been funded since 2020 by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration to provide training and technical assistance to the peer workforce, recovery community organizations, and other organizations in the ecosystem of recovery to support the implementation of peer recovery support services. The PR CoE is housed at the University of Missouri Kansas City as part of its Collaborative to Advance Health Services. The PR CoE envisions a world where the peer workforce is diverse, understood, valued, trained, and integrated across systems. The four pillars that we seek to uphold through our work are social justice and equity, values rooted in recovery, peer leadership, and multiple pathways to recovery. The PR CoE provides training and technical assistance to build and elevate an equitable peer workforce to deliver peer recovery support services. We accomplish this through supporting peer integration; Recovery Community Organization capacity building; peer workforce development; evidence based practice dissemination; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day 2024. This year's theme: "Together we can." While every individual action matters greatly, coming together as an international community creates a powerful collective action. One that moves us with greater speed toward our shared goal of preventing, and ultimately, ending all overdoses. Overdose can affect anyone, and we encourage you to remember the tenacity of our community. Lean into the power that we can have when we work together. This August 31, reach out and connect with others in your local community and join the global IOAD movement. Let’s remember, together, we can end overdose. Farewell for Now We would like to let you know that the Peer Recovery Center of Excellence in its current form will be ending at the close of our grant year, August 30, 2024. This includes the work we do through our main grant and all supplements, including providing technical assistance. We are working with SAMHSA on where or how our resources might continue to be available after the current iteration of the PR CoE ends and will share that information as soon as we have it. Please know that all of our resources are in the public domain and can be used, reused, modified, and shared without permission, as long as you do not charge for their use. We ask that you always cite the PR CoE source and author(s). You are welcome to access our Product Library and our Resource Library to download materials that may be of interest to you. Please read this issue of our Recovery Reader newsletter for more information, and for some reflections from our Steering Committee members & colleagues: https://lnkd.in/dZTHXdHT
