🧹 How clean is your (HR) house? Wait! Stop scrolling! I promise this is interesting! We know, this stuff is probably not at the top of your priority list. You're trying to find Product Market Fit. You're sifting through hundreds of applicants for a hard-to-hire role. You're an HR team of one (enough said - happy #HR Professionals Day, btw). Things that are common for early-stage companies that might get in your way: 😘 having friends and families work for free with no employment agreements (promising future equity doesn't count) 💼 calling workers "contractors" or "freelancers" but treating them like employees (there are literal laws about this) ✅ not filling out I9's because it's annoying to ask people to verify their identity (annoying, but legally required) 📝 skipping performance reviews and career conversations (no, you're not too small to document performance) 🤑 giving discretionary "performance-based" bonuses (hello, bias and inequity) 📆 misclassifying employees because ugh timesheets, can't everyone just be exempt? (no) You know how it's hard to clean up your house when you've let the mess grow for weeks? Compliance is expensive, especially when the mess has built up over time. Inefficient processes will kick your ass if you haven't built to scale sustainable. Instead of waiting until you're fundraising, working towards acquisition, or facing a lawsuit, get help now while things aren't on fire. 🛫 Get a #CoPilot and get started on a path that you can travel on your own. You'll rest easy knowing that we've seen what mess looks like, and we want to save you the headache down the road. We're a crackerjack team who has seen it all. 🔎Morgan Williams will make sure your compliance is tight and your employee investigations are done by the book. 🏗 Catalina Colman will get that tech stack sorted out and build "just right" operations that will scale with you. 💬 🏡 Kim Rohrer will make it all make sense to your team so they feel taken care of and supported. 🤓 We'll audit your current situation, get the mess under control, and support you in managing things on your own (or not, we work on retainer, too). 🔗 peakhrlearning.com/copilot #PowerOfThree #CEO #Founder #Investors #VentureCapital #Compliance #HR #HRAppreciationDay #CoPilot

Week 7️⃣ was empowering, from learning to code with Mikaila Read to tackling our burnout with Julie Turney, (HRforHR), to building cultures with a lens of disability-inclusion with Julie Harris. It was a big week, with new skills and deep emotions, and we can't believe we only have three weeks left! Thanks to Amanda Klym, SHRM-SCP for this week's quote! We feel the love, too. 🥰

During Week 6️⃣ , we got into Engineering with Funmi Oludaiye and Product with Jessica Z., talking about what we can learn about prioritization and roadmaps, capacity planning and iteration. We talked about "tiny tragedies" and letting things break, and how to get your engineering teams to help you with your builds 😉 And so much more! Thank you to these excellent speakers for your vulnerability, candor, and wisdom! And thanks to this week's testimonial from Stefanie Fackrell (she/her), who also happened to win our internal engagement contest! Hard to believe we only have two weeks left of our #ScalingHR Fall cohort!

Week 5️⃣ was all about what happens when your customer is your coworker. Arit Nsemo gave us tons of great tips about dealing with tricky customer situations, as we talked about the similarities between CS and HR (one difference: CS’s customers are not their coworkers too 😂), and what we can learn from the way teams like hers operate. We talked about speaking in user stories, setting boundaries, and thinking about burnout and happiness as personal success metrics for folks on the front-lines. And Arit shared with us ways that HR can better support and partner with their CS teams, from accessible career pathing to mental health resources. 💕 Thanks to Dustin Miller for this refreshing quote - onward to Week 6!

Seriously Helpful Resources & Material only. 😉 We're offering a unique opportunity to learn from active practitioners in a wide variety of focus areas, to give you insight into the myriad ways you can build a career in #HR, #PeopleOperations, #InternalCommunications, #Recruiting, #TotalRewards, and more. 👉 More information and a link to enroll is at https://lnkd.in/g5dWjCCn

👏 Congratulations to the following companies! Your #EmployerBrand is so recognizable and aspirational that our current cohort of #ScalingHR students named YOU when we asked them to think of companies with great employer brands during our "Think Like A Marketer" session with Cassidy Edwards 🤩 In order of how the logos looked nice in the design... Figma Spotify Duolingo Fastly Liquid Death Nike YNAB UKG Juro Pinterest Headspace PostHog If you see any of our students come through as candidates in your recruiting pipeline, trust that they are talented, motivated, and educated in the *real* world of #HR. And clearly they have good taste 😉

Week 4️⃣ was all about the money. Matt McFarlane gave a legit masterclass in leveling, compensation, and what to do when you have no salary benchmarking data for your global team 🤪 To quote one student, "Who knew I could get so jazzed about comp and leveling!?" And Gabe Cortes showed us what true partnership between HR and Finance could look like (more than one student said they wished they could work with a Finance leader like Gabe 😍). Every week, we are inspired by the stories we hear about Campfire sessions, and the connections our students are making with each other in and out of the classroom. They're even hiring each other for roles at their companies, which is just more than we could have dreamed of. Thank you to Grecia Tures M.A. for our quote of the week...the fact that you think that "this is the place" just blows our minds in the best way. Looking forward to 6 more weeks of insider knowledge, deep connections, and personal growth!

😍 What a week we had last week! Kim Minnick took us on a perfectly-themed hike to explore Performance Management from ancient history to future state, with hands-on ideating and tools to get us going back at work. Cassidy Edwards shared the power of #HR thinking like a #Marketer, from employer brand to internal program launches to storytelling during difficult times. Plus, Masterminds with Campfire and Office Hours with Morgan Williams and 🏡 Kim Rohrer, async resources to explore, and so much more! Kaylee Keil did such a great job of describing her experience last week, we had to share it with you. We call this part of our weekly pulse survey the "FOMO generator" and with this quote, you can see why. Don't miss out. Join the Peak Crew! #Basecamp Cohort 1 coming Jan 2025. #ScalingHR Cohort 3 coming March 2025. #CoPilot Fractional, Advisory, and Project HR work available now.
