Starting with the November 2024 election, voters will be able to rank up to six candidates for mayor, auditor, and city councilors. Over 150 Portlanders from all four of the city’s new council voting districts attended our workshop, where local elections staff—including Tim Scott from Multnomah County, Leah Benson, Ranked Choice Voting Project Manager, and James Eccles from the Portland City Auditor’s Office—explained how the new system works, guided a mock election, and answered audience questions. Special thanks to our City Club producers Bobbie Regan and Sam Metz, emcee Mark Stephan, Lincoln High School Principal Peyton Chapman She, Her, and our season sponsor AARP Oregon.

Click the link to register: https://lnkd.in/gEySiZe6 2024 will bring elections unlike any seen in a long time, with Portland experiencing the biggest change to how we vote in four generations. The new voting system for Portland’s mayor, city council, and auditor positions poses a learning curve for both new and experienced voters. As one of the oldest civic engagement organizations in the city, we feel a strong responsibility to help our community navigate these changes. That’s why we’re teaming up with Multnomah County Elections and the City of Portland Elections Office to present this free, public workshop for up to 500 people. That’s right—please share and help spread the word!
