Through our workshops with teens, we co-created characters with at-risk youth and put them on the [little] big screen. Our show, “Unstained,” follows Sofia and Micah, two teens from New Mexico facing the intricacies of family dynamics, relationships, and the challenges of the justice system. They learn from their missteps and meet positive role models, ultimately helping each other make better choices about their sexual health. The series is already inspiring social and behavioral changes in viewers as young people bond with the characters and find a trusted source of accurate information. "Unstained" was created in partnership with The Policy & Research Group through the Juvenile Justice Impact and Innovation Network, and our local production partner, Raven Crow Entertainment, LLC. In March, we held a design workshop for teens in New Mexico to share their voices and perspectives for upcoming episodes of our mini-series, “Unstained,” which works to reduce teen pregnancy for at-risk youth in the US. As you can imagine, a sense of awkwardness initially filled the room as the teens were invited to talk about sexual health. It was then followed by giggles and smiles. Yet as the workshop progressed into a safe space to share perspectives and experiences, the participating teens began to feel that their voices have value. The teens who attended the event helped to ensure that the new episodes of “Unstained” would resonate with other teenagers and lead to lasting social and behavioral changes in their peers. Today, for International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the power of language as a vessel for culture and transformation. Neemesha (Meesha) Brown knows that to inspire real change, we must connect with people in a way that honors their identity—and that starts with speaking their language. 🌍💛 We're proud to highlight Ouro Negro, our program that ensures vital information reaches more communities in Mozambique. Mozambique is home to over 40 indigenous languages. By producing community theater and radio shows in 22 of these languages, we've deepened community engagement and driven lasting social change. No water, other liquids or foods should be given from the moment of birth until they reach six months of life, even in hot and dry climates, as breastmilk contains all the water and nutrients a baby needs to grow well,” explains UNICEF's Dr. Felicite Tchibindat. Working with partners like UNICEF and their 'Stronger With Breastmilk Only' campaign, we support families in adopting behaviors that keep their babies healthier. Breastfeeding exclusively can save hundreds of thousands of children's lives in West and Central Africa.
