Hurricane Milton Watch: Protect Your Elevators As many are still cleaning up from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, it's time to prepare once again. Ryan Gressett, CSSBB, PMP, one of our experts at ATIS, has put together a checklist to help you protect your elevator systems as Hurricane Milton rapidly approaches the eastern Gulf Coast. Here’s a checklist to ensure your elevators remain safe and operational: •Secure the hoistway: Close all vents and machine room doors to prevent water intrusion. •Inspect sump pumps: Verify that sump pumps, float switches, and alarms are functioning properly. •Safely park your elevator: If possible, park the elevator in the middle of the hoistway and pull the main breaker. •Post-storm inspection: After the storm, avoid immediately powering on the elevator. Inspect for water damage before contacting your service provider. •Communicate with residents: Advise residents to be patient and avoid rushing to use the elevators immediately after the storm. Even if you follow these steps, damage may still occur. If you have questions or need support, we are here to help. #elevatorsafety #hurricanepreparation #buildingmaintenance #ATIS
