The New York Times announced a plan to build thousands of apartments that will transform the East Bronx along the new Metro North transit hub, including near Parkchester. The New York City Council approved a rezoning plan on August 15th, 2024, that will produce nearly 7,000 housing units, some of which will be offered at below-market rents, near four new commuter rail stations.
