𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤: On Sunday night, we experienced heartbreaking loss in our community and within our own organization. As you may have seen reported in the news, a driver crashed a car into a patio at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park, Minn., causing two fatalities and many injuries. Among those gathered on the patio was a group of colleagues from our Methodist Hospital team. Tragically, one of our colleagues was killed in this incident, and four other colleagues were injured. In Sunday’s incident we lost our colleague Gabe Harvey, a member of our critical care unit at Methodist Hospital and a hospital unit coordinator. We share his name with the permission of Gabe’s partner and family, and we mourn with them. We also ask that you keep the other four Methodist colleagues, Theo Larson, Tegan D’Albani, Laura Knutsen, and Eric Schefers in your thoughts as they recover from their injuries. The shock of this news is fresh and hearts across HealthPartners are heavy. Thank you for supporting one another as always, and especially during a painful time such as this.

  • When TRIA GameFace opened in St. Louis Park, it was clear that this sports performance facility was going to be different. The blend of high-end sports performance coaching with the experience of TRIA physical therapists has created teamwork and partnership. We recently had the chance to share our athlete’s experience with Twin Cities Live co-host Ben Leber, a former Minnesota Vikings linebacker. • In family medicine residency, integrating community resources into the curriculum can help residents better support patients. The challenge is finding time for residents to make those important community connections. As part of their work with our Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency program, Dr. Shannon Neale and Dr. Amy Bonifas came up with a new idea: they gathered audio recordings from various community partners and included them in different parts of the residency curriculum. The recordings cover topics like food insecurity and community policing. They’re combined with reflection sessions and activities, such as delivering meals to people in need, to help residents learn about community resources in a flexible and efficient way. “We’re trying to make these community resources a part of the curriculum, so the residents are learning about issues and also learning about our community at the same time,” said Dr. Neale. • We're proud to be the first hospital in the state to achieve Quality Verification Status from the American College of Surgeons (ACS)! This distinction was given to only 30 hospitals across the country, and it means we met or exceeded the expectations of the ACS in all areas such as leadership, data collection, peer review, education, and patient safety. A commitment to quality is a commitment to our patients. We're honored to provide the highest quality care and service.
