About us

Since 1977, Palmer Land Conservancy has worked with individuals, private and public partners, and various communities to protect land forever including 20 of your favorite public parks and open spaces, important working farms and ranches, and iconic scenic views. We passionately promote the conservation and enjoyment of our region’s most important natural assets that define why we love Colorado: its natural beauty, locally grown food, and outdoor recreation. LAND FOR LIFE We believe southern Colorado's lands are essential to our identity, economy and way of life. To achieve our ambitious mission, we focus our work on four strategic areas: Land for People; Land for Nature; Land for Food; Water for Life.

  • Earlier this summer, Sand Creek Ranch became the first Palmer-protected property to be added to the National Register of Historic Places. 🎉The family of the ranch, spanning three generations, gathered on their cabin deck to celebrate this prestigious designation. This register, governed by the National Park Service, is a revered catalog of America's most historically significant sites, a testament to the nation's commitment to preserving its heritage. Being included in the National Register not only secures the ranch's place in history but also opens doors for potential grants to aid in preserving its rich heritage.
