The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners has officially proclaimed September 2024 as Hunger Action Month in #OsceolaCounty. This proclamation, presented by Commissioner Brandon Arrington (D3) to Stephanie Palacios of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The proclamation underscores our commitment to addressing hunger and food insecurity in our community. With 13.2% of Floridians facing hunger, it's important to raise awareness and take action. We're proud to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and their hard work in providing meals to those in need. Last year alone, they distributed over 7.8 million meals right here in Osceola County. Join us this September in making a difference. Whether through volunteering, sharing information on social media, or making a donation, every effort counts in the fight to end hunger.

With the assistance of Congressman Darren Soto, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners has secured $850,000 in federal funding for essential infrastructure improvements in our community! These funds will go towards the Marigold Avenue Safety Improvement Project, enhancing four key intersections with new single-lane roundabouts and a northbound left-turn lane to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Additionally, the Whitted neighborhood will receive an upgrade to its water system, transitioning 52 residents from contaminated wells to a modern potable water system. Last week, members of the Osceola County Corrections Department attended the Florida Police Accreditation Conference, where the agency officially was granted reaccreditation by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC). The agency once again received the Excelsior Recognition. Only those agencies that have been awarded five successful reaccreditation cycles by the Commission receive this notable achievement. Additionally, the agency received its first Pretrial and Probation Accreditation, making it one of only nine agencies statewide to achieve this accomplishment.
