Earlier this week, Margie Zable Fisher, MBA, published a fantastic article for SUCCESS Magazine about cold calling. In the article, which we'll link in the comments, you'll find wonderful insights from several research reports, Leslie Venetz, and Orum's 2023 State of Sales Development report. We recommend checking out the entire piece, but here are some notes that stick out: ✨ They note the best times to call are 5-5:00 pm, followed by 8:00 am. Bonus stat: Orum data shows that the best time to book a meeting with a decision maker is also 8:00 am, so hit those phones early. ✨ Leslie notes the importance of leaving voicemails as a way to offer additional information about your company and platform. Bonus stat: Orum data shows that leaving voicemails increases future pickup rates by 25. We use AI to automate voicemail drops, saving you hours of time each week. ✨ They note that it can take 15 touchpoints to connect with a decision maker and highlight the importance of an allbound/omnichannel approach. Bonus stat: Data from our 2023 State of Sales Development report and our upcoming 2024 edition notes that the phone, social media, and email are the top three channels. Leslie notes these are her recommendations in the piece as well. Bonus, Bonus stat: While this multichannel approach is crucial, Orum data shows that, overwhelmingly, the last touchpoint used before booking a meeting is the phone. The phone remains a dynamic and essential part of any successful seller's tech stack, but you do need to be strategic to improve pick-up rates. Orum has the data, the insights, and the platform to ensure you can do just that.

When beginning your cold calling journey as an organization, there can be apprehension towards power or parallel dialing. Not knowing who is going to pick up can be nerve-wracking. On a recent Bold Calling LIVE webinar, Parthi Loganathan, Founder of Letterdrop, shared his team's experience. They were initially hesitant but soon found that using Orum to cold call was their most powerful outbound channel. The phone is a key component of an omnichannel approach. Using email and social selling is a great way to create brand recognition. Using the phone with those is a great way to warm up those calls and, ultimately, book more meetings.

Can you create instant credibility in your cold call openers? Every sales rep knows that momentary pause after you share your opening line with a prospect. That pause right before they say, "Wait, who is this? Why are you calling?" If you want to convert more cold call opens into cold call conversations, work to create credibility by giving prospects something they can connect with immediately. Data from Orum’s upcoming 2024 State of Sales Development report reveals a promising trend. 81% of Sales Development Representatives are now choosing to stay and grow within their existing organizations, a significant increase from the 50% turnover reported in 2023. But as they take on new roles, it's vital that you provide your new SDRs with the information they need to win the cold call. Our very own Skye Grace 🌊 went from SDR to AE in just eight months, and now she's helping sharpen messaging for our sellers, marketers, and countless other teams. We asked her for a few tips she would give brand-new sales reps just starting out on their cold-calling journey. Here's what she told us.
