Today, on #NationalDogDay, we celebrate OSP's hardworking K-9 units. These working dogs assist our troopers every day as we fulfill our mission of safeguarding life, property, and Oregon's natural resources. OSP K-9s serve on patrol teams, in the Fish & Wildlife division, and with our SWAT team. They perform drug and explosives detection, apprehension, and tracking. Oregon State Troopers and professional staff recently took a break from their regular duties to help out at Camp Rosenbaum. The non-profit youth camp is held annually at Camp Rilea and brings together first responders and volunteers for a week of fun for more than 100 youth. The 8 to 12-year-old campers had the opportunity to ride horses, operate a firehose, experience crashing waves, create science experiments, make leather goods and jewelry, learn music, and so much more! OSP members served as camp counselors, lifeguards, horse camp directors, and more. During the week, campers were unaware that many of their counselors were law enforcement officers or firefighters until the final day when all of the counselors arrived in uniform. Camp Rosenbaum creates a unique opportunity for youth to build trusting, positive relationships with the law enforcement community. #YourOregonStatePolice #summercamp #OSPTrooper #youth #CampRilea #oregon

Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife recently presented Josh Bryan Taxidermy as our 2023 Partner of the Year. Josh began building Wildlife Enforcement Decoys for OSP in 2019. We appreciate his attention to detail and regular design improvements. In 2023, Josh built or reconstructed eight decoys - including three robotic decoys. ⭐ Happy Birthday, OSP! Oregon State Police was founded 93 years ago today, Aug. 1, 1931. The agency was formed under the direction of Gov. Julius Meier and the first superintendent was Charles P. Pray. The agency consolidated specific responsibilities previously handled under the State Highway Commission, Fish and Game Commission, Secretary of State, Prohibition Commissioner, and State Fire Marshal. The photo depicts state police officers with the agency's first vehicle fleet - 25 Graham Paige 6-cylinder coupes. OSP's Missing Children Clearinghouse is teaming up with Family Building Blocks this Saturday, Aug. 3, for the Riverfront Family Fest at Riverfront Park in Salem. The free event runs from 10AM-2PM and features booths focused on health and safety, family entertainment, and tasty treats! OSP will be handing out Child ID Kits that provide parents with an easy way to keep their child's photo and fingerprints, as well as a DNA sample. Oregon State Police and the Portland Police Bureau recently partnered on a drug enforcement mission targeting drug dealers in downtown Portland. The mission resulted in ten arrests for distribution of fentanyl. The July 17th mission was part of an ongoing effort among the two agencies to disrupt fentanyl use and distribution in the city. The mission brought together PPB’s Central Bike Squad, OSP’s Drug Enforcement Section, and Mobile Response Team which has been deployed for downtown Portland enforcement efforts since October 2023. Since its initial deployment, the team has completed more than 40 missions. During the operation, the interagency team seized 243.3 grams of powdered fentanyl, 2.6 grams of methamphetamine, $2,131 in U.S. currency, and one firearm. Twelve individuals were arrested, with ten charged with distributing fentanyl.
