OCE honors the memory of former Oregon State Senate President Peter Courtney. Senator Courtney was a steadfast supporter of OCE and our reentry initiatives, and his presence will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this time. #OregonLegacy #OregonCommunity #ReentryInitiatives

OCE is a vehicle to second chances for people like you and me who have feelings, ambitions, and dreams of a better life.
About us
In 1999, Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) was established through the passage of Ballot Measure 68 by the people of Oregon with the purpose of helping DOC meet its constitutional mandate created by Measure 17. OCE, the former DOC Corrections Industries program, was authorized as a semi-independent state agency, whose finances are completely separated by statute from the DOC. OCE receives no taxpayer dollars - instead, OCE is funded entirely through sales of its products and services. Ballot Measure 68 provided the flexibility needed for OCE to operate like a private sector business. As a result, OCE has been able to sustain itself financially and move quickly to address new business opportunities, respond to economic downturns, and expand work and training opportunities for adults in custody. The collective efforts of both DOC and OCE are focused on keeping Oregon correctional facilities safe and providing adults in custody with the skill set and work ethics they will need to succeed upon release. We support Oregon's community in a variety of ways. Making a Difference - With training and guidance, the men and women in OCE work programs gain meaningful experience and return to their communities with a stronger work ethic and viable job skills, increasing their ability to succeed. Keeping Current with Future Job Skills Demands - By offering advanced training and state-of-the-art equipment, OCE is keeping current with industry standards and providing marketable job skills. Leading the Way with Great Partnerships - By working with the Oregon DOC, state agencies, non-profit agencies, and the public, OCE builds partnerships that sustain work opportunities for offenders. Working together, we reduce recidivism while saving money for Oregon's taxpayers. Quality and Value - A continuously expanding array of high-quality products and services keeps OCE current with market trends. We make a difference!

Around March of 2024, a Beginner’s Spanish class was resurrected at TRCI. To participate, AICs must send a request to the TRCI Recreation Department asking to be added to the class. Class sizes are limited to 10 students, so the waiting list is quite long. Students meet once per week on Wednesday mornings for one hour. Going through the entire workbook will take around 20-25 weeks. OCE Laundry and Manufacturing has five team members currently enrolled in the Spanish class, and one of our Production Coordinators, Jose Castanon, has been helping these AICs by tutoring them throughout the week while they are at work. “As many of you know, learning a new language is challenging, especially when you don’t have anyone to practice with or to answer questions when they arise. To help with this, I’ve been supporting the AICs by boosting their confidence. I do this by answering their questions, breaking down complex words, and using those words in sentences that make sense to them. It’s like being a language coach, guiding them through the intricacies of a new language and helping them find their voice.” - Jose Castanon, OCE Production Coordinator #OCETeam #LanguageLearning #SpanishTutor

Devin Fei-Fan Tau, thank you again for another great film session today with Oregon Department of Corrections Director Mike Reese, and for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us so that we can pass it on to the AICs in our program. #Reentrymatters #TakeaStanceonSecondChance
Thank you Director Reese for another great filming session! Did you know that Oregon Corrections Enterprises is a semi-independent state agency which operates training programs for adults in custody (AICs) housed within Oregon prisons. OCE teaches marketable technical and soft skills, and it is committed to training AICs to successfully re-enter society. The skills attained help offenders obtain gainful employment, reducing the chances of the person returning to a criminal lifestyle. OCE works to develop second-chance employment relationships with public and private sector organizations.

Our Upholstery Shop collaborates closely with our wood manufacturing team to create high-quality furniture. Adults in custody learn valuable skills such as shaping foam for comfort and aesthetics, laying out and sewing fabric patterns, and building inventory and assembly skills for frame parts using industry-standard blueprints. They also master the art of making mattresses for dormitories, detention settings, cabins, and yurts in state and local parks. From meticulous quality control to final shipping techniques, OCE team members develop essential skills for real-world upholstery work. Recently, the OCE Woodshop at TRCI donated several handcrafted items to Camp Meadowood Springs to be bid on at a dinner and auction during their annual Camp Meadowood Charity Golf Tournament. The camp has served the needs of children with speech and hearing disabilities for 60 years. The money raised from the golf tournament funds scholarships, provides capital for ongoing facility improvements, and assists in funding therapeutic programs for children. The person holding the sign is a volunteer at the Meadowood Golf Tournament. Meadowood creates these signs to place on the course as a "Thank you" to their sponsors. Separate photos in this post showcase the donated items from the OCE Woodshop. Read the full story here on our website: https://lnkd.in/g2YrFSbi What are some of the ways your company/organization donates to charity?
