Emotional eating kept me overweight for years. It was my sneaky nemesis. A stressful day at work? Depression over my faltering marriage? Heated argument with my son? I’d turn to food as my refuge, convincing myself that I deserved that comfort even though I knew it was not the answer. One particularly rough night, after eating too much Halloween candy, I had a wake-up call. Food was my band-aid for deeper emotional wounds—a temporary fix that left me feeling worse in the long run. This epiphany pushed me to seek healthier ways to cope with my emotions.
