Providing a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty and empowering their families.
About us
Operation Breakthrough surrounds 700 of the city’s most vulnerable children and their families with opportunities – to learn, connect, be nurtured and prepare for success. The program runs cradle to career, helping little children become school-ready, helping school-agers stay on track and offering teens real-world experiences in digital electronics, graphic design and more. The average OB family lives on about $1,000 a month, so OB adds on-site health care, therapy, parenting classes and financial literacy. OB empowers people to breakthrough to a bright future! The collaboration project between Operation Breakthrough, iResQ and WISE Certification was not just a success, but an inspiration! This past week we witnessed the first graduating class of WISE Level 2 Chromebook Repair students receiving their certificates. We weren't the only ones excited about this new generation of technicians, Kansas City news station KSHB41 attended as well. Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/gExEev5u We are proud of our industry for rallying around skills training and can’t wait to see where the students end up!

Last service project of the year in the books. Awesome job by senior Topher leading this project to help our friends at Operation Breakthrough! C-10 students and mentors cleaned inside and outside of a house that’ll be used by OB teachers. THANK YOU to our donors for making this possible! #MentorKCKids #kansascity #leadership #Mentoring

CEO Tyler Nottberg talked construction this week with teens from Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City. He also watched 2-D and 3-D design demonstrations in the Ignition Lab and snapped this photo with President and CEO Mary Esselman. Tyler reflected on the event: “Operation Breakthrough has always had a special place in my heart. I spent many hours talking with and learning from Sister Berta Sailer, who founded the organization in 1971 to help children of working poor families. She inspired me to start Aligned 13 years ago, and we often found ourselves testifying next to one another in Jefferson City about the importance of access to high-quality Early Childhood Education programs. And while Sister Berta passed away in January of this year, I could see that her Vision is still very much alive and well at Operation Breakthrough!” #LeaveALegacy
