Disney Musicals in Schools Teaching Artists and program administrators from around the country came to Omaha for a 3-day Teaching Artist Training where they learned about the program as a whole, Teaching Artist responsibilities, inclusive practices and more. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! ✨🎭 We at O-pa want to highlight the vibrant contributions of Hispanic artists in the performing arts. Can you think of anything sweeter than the students in our Omaha Wolf Trap program? 😍 This program is part of a national partnership with Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. That means locally, O-pa teaching artists will work with teachers to develop lesson plans with music, dance, drama, and puppetry integrated into the curriculum! These lessons will help students to advance their cognitive and social-emotional development, communication skills, and literacy skills. Right now, we partner with several school districts but we have plans to expand into other school systems, create community workshops for parents and caregivers, and host a family class series 💕 If you’re a teacher who wants Wolf Trap in their classroom you can email [email protected] for more information!

This is a look at our Disney Musicals in Schools program! ⭐ Each year, a select group of new schools are provided free performance materials and in-school support from a team of teaching artists to produce a 30-minute Disney KIDS musical at their school. Over 17 weeks, teachers learn how to produce, choreograph and music direct their first school show. Disney Musicals in Schools has helped schools across the country launch new theater programs 🎭 The program is developed in partnership with Disney Theatrical Group. Did you know Nebraska students get to explore the music of the world in their own neighborhoods? 🌏 Musical Explorers is a free semester-long program developed in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. It connects students in grades K–2 to Nebraska and Iowa’s rich and diverse musical community as they build fundamental music skills through listening, singing, and moving to the music of different cultures. ⭐ You can learn more about the program at https://bit.ly/3XlJdKF

Do you remember the best field trip you ever went on? We think these students would say theirs was seeing Black Violin at Steelhouse Omaha! Shows like this are part of our Student Matinee Series. This program offers performances geared toward our younger audiences and brings learning to life by connecting the arts to a number of school subjects for grades K-12. These students, teachers, and chaperones light up with excitement when they enter our venues and as the show begins, so does a lifelong love of the arts! ⭐ Have you heard about our Nebraska Theater Academy program? The Nebraska Theater Academy provides middle schools and high schools across Nebraska access to master classes with Broadway professionals, audition and performance opportunities, a chance to represent Nebraska at The Broadway League's Jimmy Awards showcase, and more! 🎭 O-pa launched the program in 2013 with just 22 schools in the Omaha area and now supports more than 85 schools and 9,000 students each year 🎉 You can learn more about the Nebraska Theater Academy at https://bit.ly/37OcN20
