Olo was born out of a simple idea: What if you could order and pay for a coffee from your phone and have it ready upon arrival at the cafe? We got to work in 2005, sending text message orders to printers—two years before the iPhone would change the world. While the hospitality industry is still in the early innings of its digital transformation, we remain committed over two decades later to helping restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets scale online ordering and delivery, make data-driven business decisions, and personalize the guest experience on- and off-premise.     Well that was awesome. Reflecting on Olo's first ever partner summit at the Chicago Athletic Association this week, I am humbled at the amazing community of partners and brands that we have the honor of serving and supporting. The theme of our inaugural event was centered around "the power of collaboration"...how we in the restaurant industry are stronger in numbers, and how no one single vendor can solve all of the problems on their own. At Olo, we believe in a open ecosystem, and the narrative and discussions that unfolded over the two days we were together further illustrated and strengthened my opinion that we must remain open and we must work together as partners to serve the brands that we all love so much.     "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." After Olo’s inaugural Partner Summit, I wholeheartedly disagree. On Tuesday, we shared a slide showcasing our 400+ integrated technology partners. That number continues to grow, and we are steadfast in our commitment to openness, which fosters innovation. Every new partner is a vital part of this network, allowing restaurants to design their ideal tech stack using APIs, webhooks, and robust developer support. The Olo partner ecosystem proves that together, we can go further, faster. The beauty of this event was in the connections made—not just between us and our partners but among our customers as well. It was inspiring to witness the conversations where partners were helping partners, customers were advising customers, and both were collaborating together. It was also exciting to see glimpses of what the future holds. Attendees discussed advanced technologies like license plate and facial recognition, all tying back to our shared belief of guest data as a North Star metric. Alongside our partners, we've made tremendous strides toward making the restaurant of the future a reality. I firmly believe we are driving the digital transformation of this industry. As we continuously strive for excellence, or as we say at Olo, "Excelsior"—our commitment to always reaching for the next level—it’s clear that this summit was just the beginning. No single technology can solve every challenge restaurants face—it requires a collaborative effort among trusted, proven providers to create comprehensive solutions. This event was a testament to Olo’s commitment to bringing the community together and raising awareness of top-tier solutions for their customers. It was also an honor to share the stage with SoundHound AI CitrusBits and Radar for a panel session on innovative approaches to building a tech stack, led by Ali Tappe.     Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking on stage at Olo's inaugural Partner Summit in Chicago. It was an incredible moment for our team and a reflection of how far we've come. In 2016, we built our first website for a multi-unit restaurant, linking out to Olo for online ordering. Back then, Olo wasn’t the industry leader it is today, but I saw its potential and knew this was the future of restaurant tech. I had a vision to build fully integrated websites around Olo's API and grow 3Owl through that expertise. I also knew it would be a tough climb. And I was right. From 2017 to 2019, we lost three major pitches. Every time, we heard the same feedback: "We love your proposal, but you don't have the experience." That hurt. Especially when we lost a pitch to an existing client, our best shot yet. But we kept learning, refining, and building relationships with Olo's team. I told my team that when the time came, we’d be ready. In 2020, that moment finally came. We landed our first fully integrated Olo project—and we nailed it. That success changed everything. Fast forward to today, our custom Olo solutions power over 2,000 restaurant units worldwide. Standing on stage at the Olo Partner Summit? That was a full-circle moment.
