Are you ready for some fun?! Today is a very special day. It's the day that the registration for the CyberDrain CTF open! We have space for 1000 players, and there is a MSP vs MSP showdown again! Of course we'll keep the breadcrumbs around for you. Unsure what the CyberDrain CTF is? A Capture-the-Flag event is (normally) a cybersecurity competition that is designed to teach and test a variety of different computer skills, The CyberDrain CTF differs here because we don't teach and test security skills, but System Administration and engineering. The goal of a competition like this is to learn, so you're expected to research and use the internet during the competition to figure out how to solve the challenges. What can I actually win? In the previous years we've had about 20000 dollars worth in prizes, stuff like a XBOX and PS for first place, an Airbnb and airline ticket, amazon gift cards(so many amazon gift cards). This year we want to top that. We want you to go absolutely beserk for winning a prize. You can join for both! So what's different this year? this year, this year is different. This year is intense. We're still looking for sponsors, we're still getting prizes together but we've decided to make sure you're as much prepared as we are. We are bringing 6 weeks of challenges to you before we start with 3 challenges a week. These challenges are classic CTF challenges ranging all the way to CTF v1! Public registration will open in two weeks, but if you're a smart-cookie you'll already be able to register today. I don't post nearly enough. But when I see an article like this on Women's Equality Day I tend to get riled up. First I am glad Nikesh Arora apologized for the errant behavior, I'm saddened to see something like this occur in my space. Almost 60% of all bachelor's degrees, including 50% of science and engineering degrees are attained by women. It's been this way for 30+ years. Yet only 24% of those degrees are in engineering, with another 21% in computer science. When they enter the workforce it gets much worse. Only 26% go into computer and math sciences, with roughly 15% going into engineering. While we're doing better in the past 10 years we can still do better. Let's make sure women know their place in the workplace. Hint: It's not as decoration. Let's call out a few companies that already #dobetter than most: B4 Networks Inc.
