Today, Governor Kathy Hochul announced $100 million for Phase One of the decarbonization of the Empire State Plaza in Albany as outlined in the Empire State Plaza Infrastructure Energy Master Plan. Governor Hochul’s top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe. This historic investment will help ensure Sheridan Hollow, Arbor Hill, and all surrounding Albany communities are safer, healthier, and more livable by reducing emissions and moving us towards a low-carbon future faster. Commissioner Jeanette Moy: “Decarbonizing the Empire State Plaza is a significant opportunity that will allow us to couple the modernization of energy systems at New York State capital’s landmark and address decades of long-overdue maintenance. OGS is proud to continue working with New York Power Authority on this transformative endeavor and the realization of the Empire State Plaza Energy Infrastructure Master Plan in the long-term.” Released today, the Plaza’s Energy Master Plan outlines a phased approach to reduce the Plaza’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and modernize its aging infrastructure and utilities. The first two phases of the Plan will result in more than 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions. 🔗 More from Governor Hochul: https://lnkd.in/gwhHd-f4 🔗 View the plan: https://lnkd.in/g3yhjEga

Last Saturday, the NYS Office of Language Access (OLA) spent the day at the free Immigrant Resource Fair in East New York’s Abraham Lincoln Middle School, organized by New York City Council Member Sandy Nurse of District 37 in partnership with El Puente Presente & Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation. Over 300+ people came by to chat with reps from 50 organizations, sign up for #IDNYC, and learn about employment opportunities, work permits, housing resources, #OSHA classes, and more. The OLA team was there to educate New Yorkers about their language access rights. Millions of New Yorkers do not speak English as their primary language and have limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English, presenting potential barriers to accessing essential government programs and services. The OLA provides critical oversight and coordination across New York State agencies to ensure that the statewide language access policy. 🔗 Know your language access rights: on.ny.gov/3zcHjTY 📸 🎠 This photo carousel features: 1. ‘Wood’ you believe us if we said it’s time to #spruce up the Capitol? 🎄 New York State is looking #fir TWO of our Capital Region neighbors to donate spruce trees to showcase at the New York State Capitol and Empire State Plaza this holiday season! One tree will adorn East Capitol Park, and the other will be placed on the south side of the Capitol on the Plaza near the ice skating rink. If you’re ‘pining’ for a way to make your tree a key part of the festivities, this is your moment to branch out. The donated trees will be removed at no cost to the property owner in mid-November and lit as part of New York State’s tree lighting event in December #AtThePlaza.
