The world lost a kind soul and a dedicated servant with the passing of George H. A. Moss, Jr. on June 12th, 2024.  Those who had the privilege of working alongside him at Universalist National Memorial Church (UNMC) knew him not just as a colleague, but as a pillar of the institution. George's warmth and welcoming nature extended to everyone he encountered.  He possessed a rare ability to make people feel instantly comfortable and valued, fostering a spirit of inclusion within UNMC.  His selflessness was legendary, with many likely to share stories of his unwavering support and dedication to the institution's success.  He poured his life's work into UNMC, leaving behind a legacy of service that will continue to inspire future generations. George's absence will be deeply felt at UNMC, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and commitment.  We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. https://lnkd.in/gnqMAXVP

Nursha Project Stands with LGBTQ+ Youth: End Conversion Therapy At the Nursha Project, we see the strength and beauty in our diverse communities. We believe every person deserves to live authentically and free from shame, so we stand firmly against the harmful practice of conversion therapy. Conversion therapy, also known as SOICE (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Change Efforts), is a discredited practice that attempts to force someone to change their sexual orientation or gender identity. It's not only ineffective, but it can have devastating consequences for LGBTQ+ youth, leading to depression, anxiety, and even suicide. Our community is especially vulnerable. A recent study, that you can read here: https://lnkd.in/gzXnPB2F co-authored by Nursha Project's own Shalonda Ingram, found that transgender and non-binary (TNB) youth of color are “disproportionately” impacted by conversion therapy. We won't be silent. Nursha Project is committed to raising awareness about the dangers of conversion therapy and advocating for its end. Here's how you can join us: • Educate yourself. Learn more about the dangers of conversion therapy and how it harms our youth. • Spread awareness. Talk to your family, friends and network about the issue. Share resources and encourage open conversations. • Support organizations working to end conversion therapy. Donate your time or resources to make a difference. • Amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ youth. Let them know you see them, value them, and support their authentic selves. Together, we can create a safe and affirming space for all youth to thrive. Let's be the change we want to see in the world. Together, we can work to create a world where we hear every voice and value every life. In solidarity, The Nursha Project Team

CALLING ALL DMV! Let’s Hear Your Needs and Offers SAVE THE DATE Friday, January 19 12 - 1:30 PM EST on Zoom For this New Year, some amazing new initiatives are underway around the greater DMV. Do you know about them? To strengthen this collective effort, we need to spread the knowledge—listen to insights, explore fresh avenues of support, and uplift each other as we navigate a year of monumental transformations! If we want to build this work, we need to share it--to hear feedback, to find new resources, to hold up each other in this New Year of big things coming! The session is simply an informal check-in, giving folks from different groups a chance to share what they're working on, talk about what they need and share what they'd like to offer. We'll do an informal version of the Post-Growth Institute's Offers and Needs Market process. We’re co-hosting this event along with Solidarity Hall.
