Did you feel woeful last Wednesday? If so, you’re not alone… We actually think the last Wednesday in October is the day the nation’s mood is likely to be lowest - lower even than the classic ‘Blue Monday’ in January. For many of us, this has been A YEAR. And with a host of factors coming to a head at the end of October (winter budget, clocks going back, etc.), it’s no surprise people are feeling low. Online searches for ‘how to find a therapist’ have also hit their highest point ever - and it makes senses that there’s been a big surge of people searching for support. Many people, often those that have never even considered searching for therapists or counsellors before, are now on the hunt for someone that can help them cope with the unbelievable amounts of stress we’re all suffering from. If you’re looking for support, you can find qualified therapists on our website. And if you want to support your employees, check out our workplace counselling offer or contact Helen Stuart for a chat. Thanks to London Daily News for covering our Woeful Wednesday story! https://lnkd.in/ePrYT8xd

Pretty much everyone experiences stress at work (91% of UK adults, according to Mental Health UK's Burnout report). But around half of those stressed workers say their employers don't have a plan in place to spot signs and support those who deal with chronic stress. Obviously this means individuals are struggling a lot more, but it also means businesses miss out on the benefits of happy, healthy, productive employees. We're having lots of conversations with forward-thinking organisations who are investing in proactively supporting the mental wellbeing of their employees. They’re building a culture that doesn’t only support individuals, but drives a host of business benefits such as retention and productivity. We want to help make their approach to supporting their staff the norm, rather than the exception. Whether you’re an employee who wants to see your workplace offering counselling and therapy to staff, or a leader committed to making mental wellbeing a priority in their teams, let's chat. We'd love to have a conversation about how we can create an impactful, supportive environment together. Send us a message and let's start talking!

Managing Director of Now You’re Talking Therapy | Providing Counselling & Therapy Across the UK | Driving Profit with Purpose to Support TLC: Talk Listen Change Mission | Backed by 40 Years of Charitable Impact
What does psychological safety at work look like to you? To me, it’s the freedom to voice ideas, ask questions, and even make mistakes—without fear of judgment. It’s knowing that everyone on the team has each other’s backs, and that feedback is given with growth in mind, not criticism. This was a key discussion at our TLC: Talk, Listen, Change ELT meeting yesterday morning (featuring lovely ☕️ and 🍳!) Psychological safety isn’t just a “nice-to-have”; it’s the foundation of high-performing teams. When people feel safe, they’re more engaged, creative, and ready to tackle challenges together. At Now You're Talking we want to help support you and your business in making steps towards creating a safe and supported environment through effective employee wellbeing. ⭐️ I would love to chat to discuss how we can help create a bespoke package for your business ⭐️

Starting therapy? Here’s what our experienced therapists recommend you do in preparation for your first session. Remember we’re on your side! As your therapist, we want you to succeed. You’re safe to be open and honest, and take things at your own pace. Have a goal. Think about what you’d like to achieve from the counselling process. It helps when you have a clear idea about the issues or situations you want to explore to get the most out of your session. Acknowledge your feelings. It’s natural to feel a bit apprehensive about doing something new. Be kind to yourself and acknowledge these feelings. Feel proud! Choosing therapy and turning up for your first session is a brave step towards better mental health. Worth celebrating! What tips can you share with people starting therapy for the first time? Share your experience below!

Ever heard of Child and Adolescent-to-Parent Violence and Abuse (or CAPVA)? If the answer's no, it's hardly surprising because it's a largely unreported issue. Kudos to Closer magazine then, for featuring a mum who very bravely shared her experience of CAPVA. Her story, though not the easiest to read, carries a positive message as she and her daughter managed to turn things around with support from the Respect Young People's Programme run by TLC: Talk, Listen, Change. As a profit-for-purpose organisation, our profits go to fund services and programmes like this one run by the charity. So that means when you book therapy through Now You're Talking, you're also helping people like those who shared their story with Closer. It is great to read how they have turned their relationship around. As Gemma* says in the article: "Help is out there and things can get better." Proud to be part of the TLC Group, leading the way with innovative ways of thinking in the charity sector.
2024 is an exciting time for all of us at TLC! Despite the many challenges facing the charity sector—such as reduced funding and increased demand for services—we are more committed than ever to expanding our reach and making a real difference in the lives of those who need us.Thanks to first credit union loan under the Enterprising Communities Fund we were able to establish and launch a subsidiary – Now You're Talking - through this model, the charity not only ensures its own sustainability but also amplifies its positive impact on society, extending its reach and support to communities nationwide. Many thanks to Good Finance for their support, click to read the full article https://lnkd.in/eu3WaN6r Michelle Hill

Taking the first step of seeking therapy can be very hard. However, sometimes the hardest things to do can be the most worthwhile. Therapy allows you to process and unpack any issues, events or problems that you may find challenging to navigate, or are making you feel stuck. We cannot heal from things we are suppressing. Hence, therapy. Wise words from Adults Therapist Jenni Benham, one of our warm and empathic counsellors. Jenni offers an integrative approach which can help you focus on your feelings and behaviours and explore different coping mechanisms to help you deal with any problems you may be facing. With a wealth of experience in both private practice and a mental health charity, Jenni is well-equipped to address a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and relationship issues. "My commitment is to help you not just cope, but to grow personally and empower you to improve your general well-being." You can now book a session with Jenni via our website: https://lnkd.in/eizwqZGE

Hi, it’s Helen Stuart here. I’m halfway through my first month back from maternity leave and I’m getting into the swing of things as Managing Director for Now You're Talking. Coming back into a new role after a long period off work, particularly maternity leave where your identity can feel a little all over the place, can be really daunting. It’s filled with a lot of emotion, and I’m very grateful for my supportive team who made my transition that little bit easier. We’ve had lots of discussion about our priorities over the next few months and I’m really excited about leading some exciting projects. Watch this space 👀 Of course, being part of the TLC: Talk, Listen, Change group means I’m still very connected with everything that’s going on in the charity and seeing the impact our profit with purpose business will make. I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever returned to work after a long break? What was your experience like? Any thoughts or tips? Please share below! 👇

As a profit-for-purpose organisation, our profits go back to TLC: Talk, Listen, Change. So when you book counselling through us, you are being a gamechanger too! Congratulations to Michelle Hill, our group chief executive, for being celebrated as a Northern Gamechanger!
Helping people and communities by championing safe, healthy, happy relationships | Group Chief Executive of TLC: Talk, Listen, Change | Acumen Fellow 2024 | Clore Fellow 2017 | NED | Trustee | Speaker
It was amazing to be at the 2024 Northern Gamechangers celebrations last night, with the fantastic Anna Callaghan. It was wonderful to be in the company of so many inspiring people, doing fantastic things across the North. Very proud to be a 2024 Gamie myself! Held at a wonderful venue Clockwise Offices (The first time I've been but I am hoping definitely not the last) with the brochure designed brilliantly by Embryo. It was really inspiring to hear from the Ultimate Northern Gamechangers, Lauren Rosegreen (2022), Steve Thompson (2023) and Beckie Taylor (2024) and hear a little bit of their stories of how they are each changing the world. A huge thank you to Elevate for curating and hosting such a fantastic awards ceremony, that was accepting, inclusive and celebratory, hosted by the lovely Ilona Alcock. I don't often take time to step back and reflect on the wonderful journey we've been on over the last 7 years; launching TLC: Talk, Listen, Change back in 2017 and then Now You're Talking in 2024. It is such a privilege to work with fantastic colleagues, all doing everything they can in support of safe, healthy and happy relationships across the UK and that makes me immensely proud. #2024NorthernGamechanger #NorthernGamechanger #AwardsCeremony #Northern #Proud
