For problem players, online may actually be safer than hitting the casino. You’d think the anonymity of the internet would make it is easier to get away with risky habits. But Joel Simkins argues that digital platforms have an edge in responsible gaming because they track every bet and click, spotting risky behavior faster than a pit boss ever could. Without digital trails, it's tough identifying and assisting at-risk players consistently. The advantage extends beyond player safety to overall compliance. Every online interaction leaves a traceable footprint, making it easier to maintain a secure gaming environment. What do you think is the safer way to play? Online or at the casino? Watch my full interview with Joel Simkins, CEO and Founder at XST Capital Group LLC, here: https://lnkd.in/eEGTsYj8

Customer acquisition tactics haven't quite gotten out of hand yet, but we need to keep it that way. Joel Simkins warns the industry to avoid practices that: 1. Hurt sustainable profitability 2. Harm the industry's reputation We also can't forget about the kids. Joel's 13-year-old son is already noticing the star-studded TV ads. It's our responsibility to be sensible with promotions and invest in responsible gaming efforts. The sweet spot lives somewhere between appealing promotions and ethical marketing standards. Let's work together to make sure the next generation sees sports betting as a way to make watching the game a little more fun, not a viable path to getting rich.

Co-founder & CTO of Novig, Kelechi Ukah, had some interesting thoughts about online echo chambers on the latest Linecraft. He emphasized that even if you’re someone that reads widely, your views are still skewed by the sliver of opinions the algorithm feeds you. Those hot takes that don't drive engagement end up lost in the digital void, hidden from your timeline. So good luck factoring those into your worldview. Kelechi’s points speak to the paradox of digital wisdom. In an age of infinite feeds, wisdom may mean embracing what we don't know. We may be swimming in information these days, but the reality is we only see our little curated slice. Definitely a perspective shifter that will have you re-examining your own blindspots and biases. — How do you step outside your own algorithmic bubble? If this hits home for you too, Kelechi has tons more insights to share in the full episode. Tune in for the full conversation at novig.us/linecraft

We're building the first prediction market for sports. Simple as that. When you play on Novig, instead of betting against the house, you’re matched directly against friends or strangers. We give you the industry’s best prices and if you don’t like the odds you see, we let you be the bookmaker, offering your own odds and competing against real people in the Novig community. This means you can: - Be a price maker, not just a price taker - Join a level playing field through a two-sided marketplace - Experience a more social, transparent, and fair environment For casual players, it's like DraftKings or Fanduel but with 5% better prices across the board and a more social way of betting. For more advanced players, it means greater EV, no limits or lockouts, and a trading experience you would expect on a prediction market or stock market. When it comes to analytics and model building, sophistication isn't everything. Try focusing less on the complexity of the models themselves and more on: → Formulating the right questions to answer → Developing strong fundamental ideas → Prioritizing quality data inputs over fancy techniques Even the most intricate model will only perform as well as the information you feed it. The true art lies in clearly defining the core problem you're trying to solve. Framing that central question thoughtfully is what guides you to meaningful insights. So resist getting swept up in the allure of elaborate methods and mathematics. Instead, strive for simplicity and clarity of purpose in your work. — How do you balance the technical demands of modeling with strategic thinking? Shoutout to Judah Fortgang, R&D & Betting @ PFF, for joining us on this week’s episode of Linecraft: novig.co/linecraft
