Maine’s hospitals are launching key environmental sustainability initiatives, to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in the battle against climate change. Northern Light Health this year has eliminated the use of desflurane in all of its hospitals. Desflurane is an anesthetic gas that emits a tremendous amount of carbon dioxide on each use, and eliminating it reduces the system’s annual carbon dioxide emissions by 408 metric tons. How do you handle grief? Everyone deals with grief in different ways and there is no wrong or right way to work through grief. Isolation is ok for a little bit, but it is best to find someone who can help you work through your grief and help you see that the sun will shine again. Whether you’re navigating loss or supporting someone who is, remember that it’s okay to feel, to share, and to seek help. Let’s break the silence around grief and create a community of understanding and compassion. One way to do this is to find a grief support group that can help you through the process. #HealingTogether #NorthernLightHealth #GriefSupportGroups

At Northern Light we've made the decision to eliminate desflurane from our anesthesia practice, making us the first healthcare system in the state to do so. By prioritizing more sustainable options, its elimination brings both a cost savings and environmental benefits. Read more here: https://ow.ly/irBm50T3avy
