Great illustration of the power of PET/CT visualizing prostate cancer with accurate precision. In this educational example, NCPIC imaging discovered: “Stage 1 PSMA Exam Finding: Male with new diagnosis of prostate cancer, Gleason score 3 + 3, PSA 6.10. PSMA PET CT shows one focus of abnormal tracer activity confined to the left prostate lobe, consistent with biopsy proved cancer. No evidence of PSMA-avid metastasis.” Kudos to the NCPIC care team, led by Medical Director DAFANG Wu, MD, for their great work! —————— Some notes: “Gleason score” helps determine prostate cancer risk level which range from sub-6 to 10. (6 = low 10 = high risk). The prostate gland has a left & right side, so a Gleason score adds together left & right figures. PSA refers to a blood test marker called a prostate specific antigen (“PSA”). Above 2.5 is considered high risk for prostate. #psma #petct #PSA #prostatecancer #cancerawareness #healthcare
