About us

North Mississippi Health Services serves 24 counties in north Mississippi and northwest Alabama from headquarters in Tupelo, Mississippi. NMHS includes acute diagnostic and therapeutic services offered through North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo; a community hospital system with locations in Eupora, Iuka, Amory, Pontotoc and West Point, Mississippi, and Hamilton, Alabama; North Mississippi Medical Clinics, a regional network of more than 50 primary and specialty clinics; and nursing homes, telehealth services and a comprehensive portfolio of managed care plans. NMHS connects our patients and their families with convenient access to health care that is cost effective and of the highest quality. NMHS is a 2012 recipient of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and NMMC, its flagship hospital, is a 2006 Baldrige Award recipient. North Mississippi Medical Center, the flagship hospital of the health care system, is a 650-bed regional referral center located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Home to Elvis’s birthplace, the Natchez Trace, and some of the best live music and cuisine in the South, Tupelo is the cultural and industrial center of north Mississippi. With a resident population of 34,000, Tupelo is conveniently located in close proximity to Memphis, Tennessee; Jackson, Mississippi; and Birmingham, Alabama.

  • Congratulations to Megan Bunch, MSN, RN, who was recently named associate chief nursing officer at NMMC-Tupelo. Bunch began her nursing career at NMMC in 2008 after earning her associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College. She completed a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2011 and a master’s degree in nursing in 2015, both from the University of North Alabama in Florence. Bunch has served in several roles at NMMC, including cardiology staff nurse, clinical educator, nurse manager and inpatient nursing director. She was named senior director of nursing in 2022. Bunch previously served on the Advisory Board for Itawamba Community College’s nursing program, where she contributed significantly to the advancement of nursing education. She and her husband, Lee, live in Houston with their two daughters—Rae Ann and Maddie. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her family and is active with her church.

  • Please join us in celebrating Kristen Long, DNP, RN, as she steps into her new role as NMMC-Tupelo's chief nurse executive. Long began her nursing career at North Mississippi Medical Center in 2006 after earning her associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College. In 2010, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence. Long completed her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi in 2015 and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Samford University in 2022. During her 18-year career with NMMC, Long has served in several nursing and leadership roles, most recently as associate chief nursing officer. She is actively involved with Mississippi Nurses Association, where she serves as secretary and member of the House of Delegates and participates in the Legislative Nursing Summit and Lobby Day at the Capitol. She has presented at many local, regional, state and national conferences. She and her husband, Nat, live in Fulton with their two children—Mason and Bella. They enjoy being outdoors, especially camping with extended family and friends.
