North Mississippi Regional Pain Consultants welcomes Starkville native Dr. Larry Crowell, interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine physician. He specializes in spinal injections for back and neck pain, musculoskeletal pain in general, sports medicine, ultrasound-guided injections and regenerative medicine, including platelet rich plasma (PRP). Dr. Crowell sees patients at North Mississippi Regional Pain Consultants, located in Longtown Medical Park, 4381 S. Eason Blvd., Tupelo. Dr. Crowell chose his career path after a painful injury of his own. “More than 20 years ago, I injured my back somewhat severely and experienced near constant back and leg pain that ended my college football career,” he says. “My experience inspired me to become a physician who specializes in spine and musculoskeletal pain so I might help those who are limited by pain like I once was.” Read more about Dr. Crowell at: https://bit.ly/4dVOZIY

NMMC-Tupelo recently honored registered nurse Natalie Cantrell for her exceptional dedication to advocating for her patients. Natalie joined the NMHS Resource Pool team in 2022. According to her nomination, a patient was experiencing puzzling symptoms that had remained unresolved and ongoing. "This was by far the best experience we have ever had," writes the nomination. "Natalie advocated when my wife couldn't and when I did not know what to do or say." After a review of the patient's symptoms and medical history, Natalie advocated for specific testing that could give the patient a clearer diagnosis. Her suspicion was on target and the patient was able to make significant progress toward managing her symptoms. The patient expressed that Natalie was always willing to help and made her and her husband feel like they were in exceptionally compassionate hands. Respiratory Therapists play an integral role in patients’ health care journeys where each breath is an opportunity for hope. This Respiratory Care Week, we honor our Respiratory Therapists and their continued efforts to foster hope through healthy airways and saving lives. Kim Corzine, assistant director of respiratory therapy at NMMC-Tupelo has been helping patients breathe better for 38 years. As a young child, Kim witnessed first-hand the importance of breathing, sharing how she would watch her cousin with Cystic Fibrosis would shake from the coughing spells. “I can still recall how helpless I felt when she struggled to breathe,” she shares. Kim knew she wanted to help her community and a chance radio commercial in 1982 showed her the way to connect her passion with her purpose. The Itawamba Community College Respiratory Therapy Program was accepting applications – Kim called immediately to enroll. “Respiratory therapy,” Kim says, “is about making connections – sometimes, it is with the patient or their family. Sometimes it involves helping them to breathe better, while other times, it’s showing them kindness.” Thirty-eight years later, Kim believes NMMC-Tupelo is her home. Born in our Labor and Delivery unit, which is now where our Respiratory Department is located, Kim’s teammates joke that she never left once she was born. “I just rolled over and went to work,” she shares with a smile. Join a team of respiratory professionals and connect your passion to your purpose today! Visit www.nmhs.net/careers for more information.
