We congratulate Managing Attorney Lauren Koster on this meaningful milestone!
Nonprofit and Education Law Attorney (CT & MA) | Strategy, Change Management, and Development Consultant | Former Skadden Fellow, Adjunct Law Professor, and Federal Trial and State Appellate Law Clerk
Pleased to announce that I passed the New York State Bar Exam in July. Grateful for the support of dear ones near and far as I tackled obstacles and new adventures this year; what a blur! Excited to add a third state to my (and Nonprofits Counsel's) repertoire. #BarExam #NewYorkStateBarExam #Lawyer

Since 2021, Katie Roy has served as Senior Advisor to the Boston-area education consulting nonprofit, Education Resource Strategies (“ERS”). This summer, Katie was named Partner and General Counsel at ERS; as a result, she transitioned to the role of Founder and Consulting Attorney at Nonprofits Counsel on September 1, 2024. Although no longer providing direct client representation, Katie will continue offering ad hoc legal consultation to the firm. With Katie’s transition, Lauren Koster assumed the role of Managing Attorney, also effective September 1. Having served Nonprofits Counsel as our sole full-time attorney for the past year, Lauren remains dedicated to serving our current clients and continues to accept new clients in #Connecticut and #Massachusetts on matters related to #taxexempt entity #startup, #lifecycle, and #winddown, as well as #education, including representation of #charterschools. #nonprofits #nonprofitlaw #taxexemption #foundations #charities #educationlaw #specialeducationlaw

Even though Super Tuesday is now behind us, the reality of 2024 as a major national election year continues to loom large in our collective psyche and will remain so as we barrel towards November. For those in the nonprofit sector, election years may feel full of potholes to avoid in order to preserve your organization’s tax-exempt status, especially when engaging in issue-based work that could be on the proverbial ballot this fall. Our Principal Attorney, Lauren Koster, breaks down what you need to know in this post on our "Good Work Well" blog: https://lnkd.in/eHJkVKqj. For more info, check out our new resources page and sign up for our upcoming webinars in this three-part series on politics & tax-exempt entities: https://lnkd.in/eYG8iu3a. #elections #election2024 #supertuesday #taxexemption #nonprofit #nonprofitlaw #nonprofitmanagement #leadership #strategy #advocacy #resources #politics #taxlaw #webinarseries
