Wow! A breakthrough for #hempcrete. RMI's HomebuildersCAN has just released a case study featuring Hillside Center For Sustainable Living -- a #hempcrete development of 12 units in Newburyport, MA developed by HALL & MOSKOW CORPORATION. The technology spray solution was provided by Americhanvre with the Ereasy System. The project features tilt-up hempcrete walls assembled on-site to reduce transportation costs and emissions. All in all, this project resulted in 93,148 kg of CO2e stored. Just returned to the U.S. after an amazing experience at the Andean Hemp and Cannabis Trade Forum in Peru! Huge thanks to Chris Day and Jillian Reddish from the Global Cannabis Network Collective for organizing such a well-curated event that brought together local stakeholders, government officials, regulators, law enforcement, and global thought leaders. The conversations highlighted the exciting potential for Peru’s medical cannabis sector and the budding industrial hemp industry, pending regulations on recent legislation (including the 1% THC threshold). The international delegation brought valuable insights, sharing lessons learned from the markets in the U.S., Canada, and Europe—insights that can help shape a successful path forward. With the right frameworks, Peru, and South America, could become a significant player in the global cannabis and hemp markets. Yet, as we all know, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Lorenza Romanese, Managing Director at the European Industrial Hemp Association, has been instrumental in spearheading EIHA's initiatives in Brussels since February 2019, advocating for hemp reforms in the European Union alongside MEPs. EIHA will be participating in a crucial conference at the Senate of the Republic in Rome on October 22 🇮🇹 to address the future of industrial hemp amidst challenging legislative developments in Italy. Recent amendments threaten the sector, including vital products like CBD, impacting economic viability and innovation potential. At the event, EIHA and Federcanapa have supported a positive change at the public hearing, delving into regulatory challenges. I'm excited to announce that Hempitecture has been awarded $8.4m from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) ⚡⚡ WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced $428 million for 14 projects to accelerate domestic clean energy manufacturing in 15 coal communities across the United States. The projects, led by small-and medium-businesses in communities with de-commissioned coal facilities, were selected by DOE’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) to address critical energy supply chain vulnerabilities. In a historic move for the U.S. hemp industry, 26 delegates representing a range of companies and organizations recently participated in a groundbreaking trade mission to Japan. The group attended the inaugural Tokyo International Hemp Conference, visited the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo for a high-profile meeting, and engaged in the Asia Hemp Entrepreneur Program (AHEP). The mission also included a visit to a revered 8th-generation farm that produces Golden Hemp, a prized natural fiber traditionally used in Shinto temples and Sumo wrestling rituals to purify the ring before combat. The trade mission was organized by the National Industrial Hemp Council of America (NIHC), which received a $750,000 RAPP (Regional Agriculture Promotion Program) grant earlier this year from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The grant supports trade and export initiatives for U.S. hemp businesses and farmers. The NIHC coordinated the delegation of U.S. hemp industry executives and stakeholders to foster collaboration with the growing Japanese hemp market.
