Who Holds the Responsibility for EPR Compliance? 🤔 Unpacking the Role of Brand Owners and Private Packagers In the latest entry of our Packaging EPR Series, we dive into how Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reshapes the landscape of post-consumer packaging management. EPR transfers the burden from local governments to producers—typically the brand owners or their licensees. Under EPR laws, brand owners are accountable for the entire lifecycle of packaging, from collection and recycling to final disposal. While brand owners bear the financial and operational responsibilities, private packagers play a critical role in managing the packaging process. When private packagers own the brand, they also step into the producer's role under EPR regulations. Explore the collaboration between brand owners and private packagers in our latest blog post: https://bit.ly/3YdmDUM #ExtendedProducerResponsibility #EPRCompliance #BrandOwners #PrivatePackagers #CircularEconomy #EPRRegulations #ProducerResponsibility #SustainableBrands

Today at the NLCRC Fall Meeting in Montreal, members gained invaluable insights into the practical implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) through a hands-on field trip hosted by RPM eco, Integrated management system for recyclables. After a productive morning of legislative updates and strategic discussions, members had the unique opportunity to witness Canada’s circular solution for lubricant containers, from post-consumer collection to recycling. Our journey included stops at a Canadian Tire service center, the Blainville Ecocentre, and RPM eco’s recycling facility. Experiencing this process firsthand allows NLCRC members to better understand the full lifecycle of lubricant containers and explore ways to accelerate recycling solutions in the U.S. Cheers to RPM eco for hosting this insightful field trip and to all members for their continued commitment to advancing solutions for the recovery and recycling of packaging for petroleum-based and related products utilized in transportation and industrial applications in the U.S. #CircularEconomy #EPR #EPRCompliance #SustainablePackaging #Recycling

Who Is Responsible for EPR Compliance? 🤔 Understanding the Relationship Between Brand Owners and Private Packagers In our Packaging EPR Series, we explore how Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) shifts the responsibility for managing post-consumer packaging from local governments to producers—typically brand owners or their licensees. 🚀 Strategizing Success: NLCRC Fall Member Meeting and Planning Session 2024 From October 22 to 23, 2024, the National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition (NLCRC) will be gathering in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for our Fall Member Meeting, hosted by RPM eco, Integrated management system for recyclables. This is a pivotal moment for members to report on year-to-date progress and strengthen our collaborative efforts toward industry solutions. Our three working groups—EPR Support, Packaging Design, and Advocacy—will convene to review our achievements against the 2024 milestones set earlier this year and chart the strategic direction for the year ahead. We'll also assess the evolving US EPR legislative landscape, establishing a clear path for advocacy and monitoring through 2025. In addition, members and guests will have a unique opportunity to experience Canada’s approach to lubricant container aggregation, collection, and recycling through a local field trip. This hands-on experience promises to provide valuable insights that will enrich our discussions and planning. The NLCRC recognizes that achieving effective recycling solutions for petroleum packaging requires collaboration across the industry. It’s only through collective action that we can address the complexities of post-consumer packaging recovery and recycling for petroleum-based products in transportation and industrial applications.
