The Wellness 10 Committee of the Morris/Sussex Vicinage offered a self-care journal workshop to staff today and on Wednesday to recognize World Mental Health Day. During the lunch hour, clinicians from the Mental Health Association helped teach about the psychological benefits of journaling.

EEO Officer Julia Colvin and Ombudsman Beth Raimondo from the Somerset/Hunterdon/Warren Vicinage attended the Somerset County Veterans Resource, Job, and Wellness Fair yesterday. Attendees were provided information related to career opportunities with the Judiciary, criminal justice reform, the Judiciary’s Veterans Assistance Project, and services provided by the Office of Ombudsman.

Staff from the Monmouth Vicinage attended the Monmouth University Fall 2024 Career & Internship Fair Wednesday to share information with students about available internships, careers, and volunteer opportunities. They also provided information about criminal justice reform and a variety of court resources.

Ombudsman Jennifer Shultis and staff member Fernando Vega from the Morris/Sussex Vicinage attended Sussex County Day at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta recently. The day consisted of Judiciary staff and representatives from several county organizations and businesses providing helpful information to the public.

Mercer Vicinage Assignment Judge Robert Lougy and staff members attended the vicinage’s first naturalization ceremony yesterday at the Criminal Courthouse in Trenton. Superior Court Judge Sherry L. Wilson administered the Oath of Citizenship to 24 new citizens from 17 countries. Keith Dorr, director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Mount Laurel, presented the applicants prior to the oath. Judges Lougy and Wilson and Dorr presented the new citizens with their certificates.

Employees from the Middlesex Vicinage celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month yesterday with cultural displays, a large buffet, and giveaways at the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick. Keeping with the event theme of “Pioneers of Change, Shaping the Future Together,” guest speaker Carlos Bollar, immediate past president of the Hispanic National Bar Association, discussed the importance of Hispanic representation throughout the court system.
