The oil and fracking giant, Halliburton, one of the world’s largest energy companies which has close to 48,000 employees in dozens of countries, has confirmed in a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that its network was hacked and that threat actors “accessed and exfiltrated information” following a cyberattack. A ransomware gang known as RansomHub is taking credit for the cyberattack. The form 8-K filing mentions that an unauthorized third party accessed and exfiltrated sensitive information from Halliburton systems, and the company is now in the process of determining the exact scope of the cyberattack. Halliburton has not shared details of the attack with the media or its customers, causing concern to other firms who had their systems connected to Halliburton's platform. #halliburton #oilandgas #fracking #sec #8kfiling #dataleak #dataleakage #databreach #cyberbreach #cyberattack #cybersecurity #securityoperations #securityoperationscenter #informationsecurity #infosec #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #NDR #IDS #hackers #ransomware #malware #phishing #DDOS #bruteforce #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/eF-i72hZ

Durex, a popular global brand, has become almost generic with the condom. Durex India, the Indian subsidiary of the British condom and personal lubricants brand, has had an embarrassing data leak that has exposed its customers’ personal information including customer names, phone numbers, email addresses, shipping addresses, the products ordered, and the amount paid. The exact number of affected customers is not known. Those researching the leak found evidence that the information of hundreds of people had been exposed because of a lack of proper authentication on its order confirmation page. The parent company of Durex Brand, Reckitt Benckiser India Limited, has declined to comment on the leak. #durex #reckitt #durexindia #dataleak #dataleakage #databreach #cyberbreach #cyberattack #cybersecurity #securityoperations #securityoperationscenter #informationsecurity #infosec #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #NDR #IDS #hackers #ransomware #malware #phishing #DDOS #bruteforce #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/dSS2ADrH

Dick's Sporting Goods said on Wednesday that an unauthorized third party had access to its information systems, including certain confidential data. While Dick's did admit certain confidential information was accessed, it did not say exactly what it was, nor to whom it belongs. The sporting goods store filed an 8-K form with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), notifying the regulator of a cybersecurity incident. The sporting goods retailer immediately engaged with its external cybersecurity experts to investigate and contain the threat. The company said it has also notified federal law enforcement. #dickssportinggoods #sec #8kform #dataleak #dataleakage #databreach #cyberbreach #cyberattack #cybersecurity #securityoperations #securityoperationscenter #informationsecurity #infosec #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #NDR #IDS #hackers #ransomware #malware #phishing #DDOS #bruteforce #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/diT2PCjz

Several City of Portland offices were affected by an internet outage for five hours on Tuesday, including the text-to-911 feature for emergency services. During the outage which lasted from 6:30 a.m. to noon, officials said that anyone experiencing an emergency requiring immediate attention should use the telephone and call 911. Emergency services officials said the outage had them “going old school” to respond to emergencies. This led to heavier radio traffic, a backlog in uploading medical information, and also emergency service providers resorting to map books rather than using their computer mapping systems. #portlandor #911 #emergencyservices #oldschool #mapbooks #outage #informationsecurity #infosec #networkperformance #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/eSMBb7-P

An apparent cyberattack has disrupted the internet, phones, email, and other systems at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Port of Seattle officials worked to investigate the outages and restore full service with the help of external cybersecurity experts, and federal partners, including the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Protection. The outage affected the baggage sorting system, prompting airlines to warn passengers to avoid checking bags, if possible, to avoid potential delays. The airport also warned travelers to allow extra time at the airport and to use airline mobile applications to get boarding passes and bag tags when possible. Terminal screens also malfunctioned at the airport, making it difficult for passengers to locate their assigned gate. #seatac #tsa #cbp #seattle #dataleak #dataleakage #databreach #cyberbreach #cyberattack #cybersecurity #securityoperations #securityoperationscenter #informationsecurity #infosec #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #NDR #IDS #hackers #ransomware #malware #phishing #DDOS #bruteforce #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/erDBBKRU

The garage area in the NASCAR Cup Series race Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona has an internet outage. A major consequence of this internet outage is that racing teams will not be able to tell what their fuel level is. Since the race was in the second stage when the internet outage happened, there was not too much concern amongst the drivers about their fuel levels and their effect on the outcome of the race. However, if the internet in the garage area remains down throughout the race, the end of the race may yield many surprising events. #nascar #daytona #cokezerosugar400 #carracing #outage #informationsecurity #infosec #networkperformance #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/eptDQFxD

The stocks of Microchip Technology, the American microchip maker, slipped during early post-market trading Tuesday after it revealed that an unauthorized party disrupted the company's use of certain servers and some business operations. The company noticed suspicious activity in its IT systems on August 17, and "began taking steps to assess, contain and remediate the potentially unauthorized activity," it revealed in an SEC filing on Tuesday afternoon. The precautionary steps included "isolating the affected systems, shutting down certain systems, and launching an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity advisors." Microchip Technology said it is still working to bring the affected portions of its IT systems back online and restore normal business operations. Till now the company has not declared if the cyberattack is expected to "materially impact" its "financial condition or results of operations." The company has roughly 123,000 customers across multiple industry sectors, including industrial, automotive, consumer, aerospace and defense, communications, and computing markets. #microchiptechnology #sec #dataleak #dataleakage #databreach #cyberbreach #cyberattack #cybersecurity #securityoperations #securityoperationscenter #informationsecurity #infosec #threatintelligence #networksecurity #networkforensics #NDR #IDS #hackers #ransomware #malware #phishing #DDOS #bruteforce #vulnerability Read more: https://lnkd.in/gmDagJYe
