‘Find your voice and don’t stay within the lines’. That was a key leadership insight shared by Cathy Harrison at the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme pit stop in Belfast last night. Our clinical entrepreneurs often start the programme with imposter syndrome, but if they if they are to transform patient care through innovation they have to find their voice and be prepared to go outside of the lines of custom and practice. We also often say they need to learn to pitch like an American. Aliya Bhatia's and Alister Martin's talks at NextMed Health 2023, and their work on Vot-ER were eye opening, and an inspiring call to action for healthcare providers to help patients vote like their health depends on it to help create a healthier democracy. I often get asked what conferences to attend and here is my non consensus point of view: Big conferences sometimes miss the forest for the trees in discovering truly innovative solutions in digital health. It is the silo breaking smaller summits and conferences that build the lasting relationships needed for the partnerships that catalyze the next wave of digital health. This has been my anecdotal experience.
