Fermentation processes can require significant amounts of water for media makeup and CIP. Water usage and wastewater disposal can be a limiting factor to expansion based on permitting restrictions or local utility capacity. In this blog article, we discuss how water audits, water use reduction, and onsite industrial water reuse offer solutions to this scaleup challenge by lowering utility costs and reducing the overall site water footprint. 🚰 https://lnkd.in/eZCYWnGV #waterreuse #climatetech #sustainabletech #waterinnovation Linda Rauch, P.E. Calling upon all #cultivatedmeat companies and researchers; we need your help! GFI and our contractor Bert Frohlich have embarked on another modeling study to better understand costs, scale-up, and gaps. We have assembled a survey to collect data on cells, composition, kinetics, nutrient consumption, and sensitivities to inform new modeling efforts. Developing models based on collective, real-world data from cells used in the cultivated meat field will increase accuracy and can help generate more confidence among stakeholders. Please take the time (~30 min) to answer the questions in this survey. Any data you can provide will be extremely valuable. The information collected will be confidential, aggregated, and anonymized, and the findings will be summarized in a public report that will benefit all participants in the field. Thank you for helping us help you! Link to complete below. Please feel free to share with colleagues:

John Ellersick got to sit down with FoodNavigator back in August to discuss scalability challenges and how alt-protein companies can overcome them. The challenges mentioned essentially relate to all cleantech start ups trying to scale and commercialize their technology: 💸 Capital Cost investment: In particular figuring out the right plant to build, at the right size to fit your needs. We highly recommend doing a chartering process to get the team on the same page, to fully understand the cost and goals of the facility they are building. It is also important to get high quality cost estimates early on in the process. ❗ Risk Management: It is vital to think about your risk strategy on day 1. We offer a Risk Management program to help companies fully understand the extent and the types of risk they are facing. It is especially important to bring the whole team along and keep them informed throughout the process. Listen to the interview for more insights on how to scale successfully https://lnkd.in/ep5JY9DQ And thank you to Ryan Daily for the great interview!

Climatetech Summit Boston 2024 was one for the books! Thank you so much to all of the startups, investors, corporates, partners, and many more climate champions who joined us at Greentown Boston to celebrate all things #climatetech and meet our amazing startup community. 🌎 We kicked off the event with a keynote conversation between TIME's Chief Climate Officer Shyla Raghav and Amazon's Chief Sustainability Officer Kara H. Hurst about how Amazon is leveraging its scale and resources to meet its decarbonization goals. We heard from GE Vernova's Scott Strazik and Limor Spector, PhD, saw pitches from 18 of our member companies, and dug into the highs and lows of founder life with Elise Strobach, Shiv Bhakta ☀️, and our wonderful emcee Dan McCollister. Our two panels about FOAKs and government partnerships left us inspired to get to work. But the best part of the day was when we opened the doors to our prototyping lab and welcomed attendees to meet 70+ of our startups in the very place they're developing their technologies, before raising a glass to their momentum and forging new connections at our networking reception. Now, it's time to follow up with the startups you met and keep the momentum going! 🎉 We're grateful to our event sponsors: Champion Sponsor GE Vernova; Builder Sponsors Schneider Electric and Wells Fargo; Supporter Sponsors ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition, Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), Emerson, Fidelity Private Shares, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Puffer-Sweiven, SLB, and Somernova; Innovator Sponsors Capgemini, ecoCFO, TiE Houston, and V2 Communications; and media partners Canary Media Inc. and Heatmap News. Stay tuned for a full event recap, session recordings, and a photo gallery—subscribe to our newsletters to get them straight to your inbox: https://lnkd.in/eTrbhkw

Congratulations to the team at Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture (TUCCA) ! 🎉
Big news out of Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture (TUCCA), which received a $2.1M grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to build shared pilot-scale infrastructure for cellular agriculture, to be shared amongst researchers & companies. Many more of these types of facilities will be needed around the world to assist in scale up. https://lnkd.in/eTJXBb6Y
